Good News For Those Lost in Religion
One of the most effective ways to engage people with the Gospel is to ask questions. This method was used effectively by the Lord Jesus Christ and His disciples as they confronted people lost in religion. Asking questions also shows people that you care for them and you are interested in their responses.

Consider some of the questions Jesus asked the religious people of His day. He challenged Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, about his knowledge of the Kingdom of God, "Are you the teacher of Israel and do not understand these things?" (John 3:10). He asked the stubborn-hearted Pharisees who were blinded by religious tradition, "If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?" (John 8:46). Then He exposed how corrupt their religion had become with this pointed question, "Why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?" (Mat. 15:3). Possibly the most important question that the Lord Jesus ever asked was: "Who do you say that I am?" (Mat. 16:15). Clearly, the response to this question carries eternal consequences because Jesus warned, "If you do not believe that I am [He], you will indeed die in your sins" (John 8:24).

Knowing how effective this method can be, I developed some questions to ask our Catholic family and friends.

What is your most trustworthy source for truth? Where do you go to find the answers about life's most critical issues?
We must tell people there is only one source for truth that will never mislead you, never deceive you, nor try to control you. It is Jesus Christ who is the personification of truth (John 14:6). He declared His Word is truth, and He came to testify to the truth (John 17:17; 18:37). Everyone on the side of truth listens to Jesus. Why would anyone go anywhere else for truth? Jesus said, "If you abide in My Word...you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:31-32). Free from what? Free from the bondage of religious deception. Knowledge of the truth is necessary to escape from the snare of the devil who holds people captive to do his will (2 Tim. 2:25-26). Satan uses deceitful workers who disguise themselves as apostles of Christ to blind people from the truth (2 Cor. 11:13-15). We must tell Catholics to trust Christ and His infallible Word for eternal life rather than fallible men and their religious traditions.

Do you know that there is only one way God saves sinners? Do you know that any other way will take you down the broad road to destruction?
We must tell people that salvation is offered only to those who repent and trust the Lord Jesus Christ, His perfect life, His atoning death, and His glorious resurrection (1 Cor. 15:1-4). He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). We must proclaim the Lord Jesus is sufficient to save sinners completely and forever because by His one offering for sin He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified (Heb. 10:14). We must declare that Christ is the only mediator between God and man (1 Tim. 2:5). Only by faith in the perfect, finished, sufficient, and unrepeatable sacrifice for sin can we be reconciled to God (John 19:30).

Did you know that Jesus put an end to the sacerdotal priesthood?
When Jesus cried out in victory, "It is finished," the veil in the temple that separated the Holy of Holies from sinful man was torn open by God (Mat. 27:51). Repenting sinners can now come directly to God through faith in the shed blood of the Savior (Rom. 3:23- 26). Priests are no longer needed to offer sacrifices for sin (Heb. 10:18). In fact, the only legitimate priesthood which remains on earth today is the royal priesthood of all believers who offer sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving for being called out of darkness into the marvelous light of the Son (1 Pet. 2:9).

Did you know Jesus finished the work of redemption? Catholicism denies this by teaching, "The work of our redemption is carried on" every time the Eucharist is celebrated (CCC, 1405). God's Word declares, "He [Jesus] entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption" (Heb. 9:12). "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace" (Eph. 1:7).

Why do you believe in Purgatory to purify your sins?
God's Word says, "When He [Jesus] had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high" (Hebrews 1:3). "He gave Himself for us to... purify for Himself a people for His own possession" (Titus 2:14). "The blood of Jesus...cleanses us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). We must tell Catholics that Purgatory does not exist. It is a fatal mistake for anyone to put their trust in a fictitious place instead of in the person of Jesus Christ.

Where will you spend eternity?
The answers we hear most often from Catholics are, "I hope its heaven" or "I don't know." It is for this reason I developed a message entitled, Where Will You Spend Eternity? In the message I clearly present "what the Gospel is" and "what it is not." In order not to offend, I never mention the word Catholic or Catholicism. It is available on DVD and has some excellent graphics. Order here.

The good news of salvation through Jesus Christ is only good news when it is believed. Those who reject Christ and His Word will be judged and have to bear the eternal punishment for their sin in the eternal lake of fire. It is our prayer that those who are lost in religion will believe what God says and not what man says God says.

Pope Declares All People Are Children of God

In his first-ever video declaring his "prayer intentions," Pope Francis called for dialogue and collaboration among those of the various world religions asserting that they are simply "seeking or meeting God in different ways." Francis contends that all the religions of the world simply represent mankind's diversity in seeking God. He says that despite the differing beliefs, everyone is a child of the same God. The pope said, "Many think differently, feel differently, seeking God or meeting God in different ways, but there is only one certainty that we have for all: we are all children of God."

Mike's following comments are from his interview with CNN: Tragically, those who do not know the Bible or who refuse to submit to it as the supreme authority for truth, will be deceived by the pope's latest pronouncement. The pope's assertion that all mankind seeks after the same God, just in different ways, is false according to the Word of God. No one seeks for (the true) God (Rom. 3:11), but there are many who seek after false gods of their own imagination or false gods of their religious traditions. The only way to meet with the true God is His way, through the one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5). The Word of God reveals that the human race is made up of people who are either children of God or children of the devil (1 John 3:10). When the Lord Jesus rebuked the religious leaders of His day for refusing to believe the truth of His Word, He told them that their father was the devil (John 8:44).
This remains true today in that the god of this world (Satan) has created a variety of religions to blind all of his children from the light of the Gospel and the glory of Christ (2 Cor. 4:4). Everyone is a child of the 'god of this world' until they exchange their religion for a relationship with the one true God through Jesus Christ. Only those who receive Jesus by believing in His name become children of God (John 1:12-13). Read more.
From Antichrist to Brother in Christ

More than half of evangelical pastors say Pope Francis is their brother in Christ. More than one-third say they value the pope's view on theology, and 3 in 10 say he has improved their view of the Catholic Church. Those are among the findings of a new study of 1,000 Protestant senior pastors, released this week from Nashville-based LifeWay Research. Overall, the survey found that many Protestant pastors have taken a liking to Pope Francis. Nearly 4 in 10 say the pope, known for his humility and concern for the poor, has had a positive impact on their opinions of the Catholic Church. Almost two-thirds view Pope Francis as a genuine Christian and "brother in Christ." Read more.

Mike's Comment: This is why we receive so much "friendly fire" from evangelicals and why we must continue to expose the false and fatal gospel of Roman Catholicism. The stunning statistics reported by LifeWay Research are the tragic results of all the unity accords signed by highly visible evangelical leaders. Most evangelicals do not know if the Roman Catholic Church represents a huge mission field that needs to be evangelized or a Christian denomination made up of brothers and sisters in Christ. By God's grace, we will continue to make the truth known and encourage evangelicals to reach out to those who are on the broad road to destruction.
Pope Will Celebrate Reformation for Sake of Unity

Pope Francis will participate in a joint ceremony between the Catholic Church and the World Lutheran Federation (WLF) to honor the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation on Oct. 31, 2016, in Lund, Sweden. The ceremony in Sweden in October of this year will touch off a year-long celebration and series of events about the Protestant Reformation. According to Vatican Radio, Pope Francis will participate in a common worship service based upon a Catholic-Lutheran "Common Prayer," which was published earlier this year by the Lutheran World Federation and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. Read more.

Mike's Comment: As the 500th anniversary of the Reformation approaches, we can only wonder how many more Protestant denominations will capitulate to the enemy that murdered thousands of born-again Reformers who would not bow their knee to the false prophet of Rome. Members of evangelical churches will have to decide how they will respond to those who try to reverse the Reformation. They can do one of three things: 1) compromise the Gospel for the sake of unity with Rome, 2) remain neutral, or 3) stand with the Reformers and earnestly contend for the faith. There is much at stake if we don't -- the glory and honor of our Savior, the purity of His Gospel, and the sanctity of His Church.
Letters from Around the World

Sir, Does the Roman Catholic Church have errors? Yes. And what protestant church does not as well. One thing the Catholic church believes is that it is through Christ that we are saved. Give it up and get a hold of yourself. As a fundamentalist Lutheran, I ask you to stop the propositional truth stuff that died 100 years ago. Why don't you love Catholics by tolerating their differences. Chaplain D. M.

Dear Chaplain, The differences between the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the false and fatal gospel of Catholicism is the difference between heaven and hell, between justification and condemnation, and between the eternal grace of God and the eternal wrath of God. I love Catholics too much not to warn them of the eternal destiny that awaits them if they do not repent and believe God's Gospel.

Dear Mike,
I am thankful to the Lord that I found your videos on you tube. They are very helpful to me. I shared one of them on my facebook account and hope and pray that many eyes will be opened. I have watched and listened to most of your videos, uploaded them on my cellphone and listened to them before I go to bed, on my way to and from the office and while doing household work. God bless you. Annie, Manila, Philippines

Mike,
I rarely if ever write letters to the editor, or anyone else for that matter, but this subject needed a response. I read the hostile opposition you often get from Protestant Pastors. Please know that I tremendously admire you and so many other ministers who so doggedly speak the truth amidst and in spite of the firestorm that they know in advance it will cause. Attacks of this sort from within the "Christian" camp are indeed surprising, as I have learned from my own firsthand experience.  Anthony, WA

Mr. Gendron,
In reading your newsletters, I was saddened by all those Catholics who hate you so much because you share the truth and for the pastors who attack you. The Bible says that just before Christ comes back that there would be a falling away from truth. I see this happening in those pastors who want to join Catholics in unity.
I am an ex-Catholic. I am also a researcher. I look into what you say about the Catholic Church and find it to be true. If these Catholics would stop being spiritual lazy and look up what you say (with prayer), they would see the truth and leave their church. As for the pastors who reject the truth, this verse came to mind: "You will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved" Mat. 10:22). Those pastors have made the choice not to endure sound doctrine but to give into the lies of accepting everyone in spite of their differences. R.S., Bakersfield, CA

Mr. Gendron,
I would like to thank you. I am using your website to defend my faith and contend for the faith with a Catholic youth minister. I am only 16, so holding my own with an attorney leader in the Catholic Church is awesome. I am learning countless information that I did not know. D.F., Internet

Pope Says Mary is the Mother of Forgiveness

Pope Francis has once again deceived people with his twisted distortion of Mary. He said, "A person unable to forgive has not yet known the fullness of love. Only one who truly loves is able to forgive and forget." He added that, at the foot of the Cross, Mary becomes for all people the mother of forgiveness, as she follows in the example of her Son who forgives those who are killing him. "For us, Mary is an icon of how the Church must offer forgiveness to those who seek it," Pope Francis continued. Read more.

Mike's Comment: The pope will continue to deceive people with fatal lies because God has not opened his mind to understand the Scriptures. The Lord Jesus opened the minds of the two men He met on the road to Emmaus and said to them, "repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His name" (Luke 24:45-47). Clearly, God is the only one who can offer forgiveness, not the church. The divine condition for forgiveness is repentance, not penance, as the pope teaches.

The Sufficiency of our Lord Jesus Christ

God's Gospel reveals all the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished to save sinners from the power, punishment, and ultimately, the presence of sin: righteousness had to be perfected, divine justice had to be satisfied, blood had to be shed, redemption had to be paid, sins had to be forgiven, reconciliation had to be achieved, death had to be conquered, and salvation had to be secured.
What a glorious Savior we have to proclaim!
