Two Types of Terrorism

While the world is focused on the deadly terrorists attacks by radical Muslim jihadists, there is another terrorist attack that has been going on much longer and is much more dangerous because of its ETERNAL consequences. As we mourn over the loss of physical life and grieve with those who lost loved ones, we realize these tragedies are occurring far too often and in far too many places. It is good to know that some governments have finally declared war on ISIS and are pooling their resources to destroy them before they destroy us.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Body of Christ could unite against the spiritual terrorists that are attacking the Gospel of Jesus Christ? There are far too many of them in our churches that are leading people down the broad road to destruction. These terrorists are destroying spiritual lives with their perversions of the Gospel and they get away with it because they disguise themselves as servants of righteousness (2 Cor. 11:15). As deceitful workers, they raise doubts about God's Word, undermine its authority and deceive people with a false and fatal gospel. The only defense against such deadly activity is to expose their evil deeds of darkness (Eph. 5:11). They need to be identified by name so that gullible people will not be caught in their web of deception. Unmasking terrorists is critical for the glory and honor of our Savior and the sanctity of His Church..

Tragically, the evangelical church seems oblivious, unconcerned and indifferent to Satan's army of terrorists who have infiltrated the church with the objective of destroying lives. There is a war going on inside the church that is being ignored because the enemy is disguised as an angel of light and clothes himself in sheep's clothing. As we look as the recent history of the church, we see the great destruction that has been caused by the fiery darts of spiritual terrorists. Satan has planted these terrorist with little or no resistance. The terrorists who are hidden in the church are much more dangerous than the terrorists who are hidden in the neighborhoods of the world because those terrorists can only cause physical death. The terrorists in the church can cause eternal spiritual death with their damnable lies. More than ever we need to contend earnestly for the faith (Jude 3). Our armor and strategy to defend the Body of Christ against spiritual terrorism is found in Ephesians 6:10-20. All of us need to be faithful soldiers for Christ.

Is the Apostles' Creed a Test for True Conversion?

The answer to this important question is adapted from Dr. John MacArthur's book Reckless Faith.

Creeds were never formulated to establish fundamental doctrines but rather to defend them. They are repudiations of false doctrines that condemned new error by affirming established truth. As time passed, new errors required new affirmations; thus church creeds and Christian confessions have become longer and more complex. Ancient statements of Christian doctrine, such as the Apostles' Creed, tend to be far simpler and more narrow in their focus. The Apostles' Creed is one of the earliest and simplest statements of faith in the history of creeds. It is not an exhaustive statement of faith, although it does summarize some of the major points of apostolic doctrine. It was a brief, rudimentary confession designed to distinguish Christianity from Judaism or pagan religions.

But in recent times there has been no shortage of evangelical leaders who seem determined to use the Apostles' Creed not as a wall of defense for an exclusive faith, but as a generous gate for an inclusive religion. Perhaps the most popular and persuasive defender of this view was Charles Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship, and a highly respected leader within evangelicalism. Colson implied that the true non-negotiables of Christianity were all settled by the Apostles' Creed. He suggested that all evangelicals should be willing to embrace, as brothers and sisters in Christ, everyone who gives assent to this ancient creed. The problem with this view is that the creed was not written for the purpose of establishing unity but to confront error.

The creed is by no means a complete statement of all the fundamental doctrines that are essential to genuine Christianity. For example, since there is no statement about the deity of Christ, a Jehovah's Witness, who denies Christ's deity, could give full assent to the Creed and still be lost. Arguing for the Apostles' Creed as the arbiter of fundamental Christian doctrine has only added further confusion to an evangelical movement already suffering from perpetual erosion of doctrinal truth.  Read more.

Mike's Comment: One of the major attacks on the Christian faith today is the attack on the exclusivity of the Gospel. Many evangelical leaders are declaring that anyone who names the name of Christ or believes the Apostles' Creed should be embraced as a brother or sister in Christ. This is a most grievous mistake that is destroying the sanctity of our Lord's Church. As a devout Catholic for over 30 years, I repeated the Apostles" Creed every week and believed every doctrine it asserted. However, I remained unconverted and still trapped in religious deception. Two of the most important apostolic doctrines that are left out of the Apostles' Creed are salvation by grace alone (Eph. 2:8-9) and the Lord's command to repent and believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15). Repentance is not an option because God is calling all men everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30). And those who add works to God's grace have nullified the only means by which God saves sinners (Rom. 11:6).
The Greatest Gift Anyone Could Ever Receive

May the redemption of our loved ones be the central theme of our lives as we gather with family and friends during the holiday season. We know our merciful God, along with all the inhabitants of heaven, rejoice over the salvation of sinners. We also know He has given us all the awesome privilege and responsibility of being ambassadors for the King of kings. Since this is the season when people are giving and receiving gifts, let us share with them how they can receive the greatest gift they could ever receive. Our Gospel tract, which uses only the power of God's Word, reveals how they can receive God's gift of eternal life. Mail them with your Christmas cards or give them to people in your circle of influence. May we never miss an opportunity to be heralds of the good news of Jesus Christ! Order here.

Mike's Messages at The Masters Seminary

Mike recently delivered messages on Roman Catholicism and the Gospel at two chapels at The Masters Seminary. He reminded the students of Paul's exhortation: "we did not yield in submission [to the opposition] even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you" (Gal. 2:3-5). Paul drove a stake in the ground for the purity of the Gospel by condemning anyone who would pervert it (Gal. 1:6-9). The Gospel must remain pure for the sanctity of the church and for the sake of the elect! You can hear and see the messages here.

Letters from Around the World

You're clearly not very familiar with Catholic teaching, as such you would know that [the Bishops] being the sole interpreter of the Word of GOD does not put them above the Scriptures. That's ridiculous. The Catholic position is as Augustine puts it: "The Holy Scripture should be interpreted in the way which seems to be in complete agreement with those who understood it and not in the way in which it seems to differ to those least familiar with it." Those that have gone the way of mutilating the Scriptures (as your Bible is incomplete and missing Holy Scripture) are the ones that are LEAST familiar with the Word of God. W. A., Internet

Mike's response: I once asked my uncle, who spent 8 years in seminary studying to become a Catholic priest, how many of those years did he study the Scriptures? His response left me puzzled. He boastfully said that he spent only 6 months studying the Bible. This meant he spent 7 1/2 years studying his religion. This is quite a contrast to my 3 years of study in seminary. All but one of my courses was studying God's Word. It is a tragedy that Catholics look to their bishops as the only authentic interpreters of Scripture (CCC, para. 100). These unregenerate men know more about their ungodly traditions than they do about God's Word.

Dear brother Mike, I just watched your latest TV program with Brannon Howse. I always really enjoy the scriptural contrasts you give between God's Word and the satanic counterpart! That is so powerful, keep doing those! Also, your ministry has really touched a personal friend of mine. She personally talked with you about a week ago on the phone about a Catholic lady coworker. They've worked together for years, but in God's timing, this gal has taken a sudden interest in spiritual things. Anyway, I just wanted to edify you with a big thank you and thank the Lord for His truth keeps marching on! Your ministry touched my life, and now through my friend, it is planting seeds to others! Bless you and your family, Mike. Thank God for your obedience. M.W., St. Paul MN

Pope Endorses Agenda for a United Religion, Economy, and Government

We are steamrolling toward a one world government, a one world economy, and a one world religion. Of course we will not get there overnight. It is going to take some time, and there are going to be quite a few bumps along the way. In fact, I believe that our planet will experience an extreme amount of chaos before we actually get there. But every major crisis will be used as an excuse to advance this agenda. Virtually every solution that the elite offers us will involve more globalization and more centralization. We will be told that all of our problems will be solved if humanity will just come together in unity. For some, the goal of a "united planet" where we are all working together to eradicate things like poverty, war, and disease makes all the sense in the world. For others, a one world government, a one world economy, and a one world religion would simply mean setting the stage for "one world tyranny."

From September 25th to September 27th, the United Nations launched a "new universal agenda" for humanity. The Pope traveled to New York City to give the address that kicked off this conference, thus giving his considerable endorsement to this new plan. Virtually every nation on the entire planet willingly signed up for the 17 goals that are included in this plan, but this stunning turn of events made very few international headlines. The UN is not asking permission but issuing a command that the entire planet will commit to 17 sustainable development goals designed to radically transform our world by 2030. Wycliffe Bible Translators Offer Catholic Bibles

Wycliffe Bible Translators are producing Catholic bibles and translating the apocrypha as another case of evangelicals compromising with enemies of the Gospel. In Scripture, the Church is described as "the pillar and support of the truth" (1 Tim. 3:15). Our labor, therefore, should be to maintain and preserve it. Wycliffe, a supposed Christian organization, seems to have forgotten that there is a line regarding Scriptural doctrine that simply should not be crossed. We need to remember that Christianity is not just a life: it's doctrine. The Roman Catholic 'church' is not a denomination -- it is a cult; the world's largest at that. So why would a Christian organization, having done so much good in the past, now be including spurious books in its Bible translations? There may be no more destructive enemy in the Church than the indifference to the sufficiency and authority of Scripture. Read more.

How Different Are You?

A born again Christian is a person of unusual behavior. He talks daily to someone he has never seen and believes he is going to heaven on someone else's righteousness. He is strongest when he is weak, richest when he is poor, exalted when he humbles himself, and is loved when he is unlovable. He empties himself so that he can be filled, confesses he is wrong so that he can be declared right, and dies so he can live. He is joyful when he is persecuted and set free when he becomes a slave to the King.
The Sufficiency of our Lord Jesus Christ

God's Gospel reveals all the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished to save sinners from the power, punishment, and ultimately, the presence of sin: righteousness had to be perfected, divine justice had to be satisfied, blood had to be shed, redemption had to be paid, sins had to be forgiven, reconciliation had to be achieved, death had to be conquered, and salvation had to be secured.
