Witnessing to a New Breed of False Converts

A new kind of false convert has emerged within the professing church in this generation. They are professing Christians who identify themselves with a particular sinful lifestyle. They call themselves "gay Christians" and they are becoming more and more accepted in many Christian communities. Many of them have been encouraged by a book released last year called God and the Gay Christian: The Biblical Case in Support of Same-Sex Relationships. The book was written by Matthew Vines who was raised in a Christian home. At age 19, he left Harvard University after his third semester to study the Bible and prove that homosexuality is not a sin and to remove the term "homophobia" that he thought was in the church. In March 2012, he delivered a message about the Bible and homosexuality that called for acceptance of gay Christians and same-sex marriages. Since then, his message has been seen nearly a million times on YouTube and was featured in The New York Times and The Christian Post. Tragically, Vines interprets the Bible through the lens of his sexuality rather than interpreting his sexuality through the lens of Scripture!

There is also the Metropolitan Community Church, which calls itself a Christian denomination, with 222 congregations in 37 countries. It is an outreach to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender families and reportedly bases its theology on the historic creeds of the Christian Church. One of its pastors was Mel White, who was best known for his ghostwriting auto-biographies for Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and Billy Graham. After years of writing for the Christian right, he came out as a homosexual in 1994 and wrote his autobiography, Stranger at the Gate: To Be Gay And Christian In America.

The apostate pastor of GracePointe Church, who leads the megachurch congregation that country star Carrie Underwood attends, announced from the pulpit that not only can practicing homosexuals be members, but those in sexual sin can now fully serve in his church and will be allowed to "marry" at the facility.

How do we evangelize people who believe they are Christians but, at the same time, deny their sin of homosexuality? We know from God's Word that conviction of sin is an essential part of true conversion (John 16:8-11; 2 Cor. 7:10). Until the sinner is convinced of sin, he can never be converted from sin. Until sin is thoroughly revealed, Christ cannot be rightly claimed as Savior. As long as sin is rationalized, Christ will be recognized merely as a badge of honor. No one will seek a Savior unless they know they are perishing. We must speak the truth in love to "gay Christians" and tell them that the Lord J
esus saves us from sin, not in sin.

We must tell them that the Bible reveals homosexuality to be a most degrading and indecent behavior that dishonors the body. It is an ungodly and unnatural sin that has been condemned by God, was punishable by death in the Old Testament and given as a divine judgment in the New Testament. It is a twisted perversion of the God-ordained roles for men and women. Of over 30,000 verses in the Bible, not one makes a positive statement about homosexuality. We must encourage false converts to take the Word of God seriously. Those who don't will be judged by the Word of God on the last day (John 12:48). The Apostle Paul made it profoundly clear: "Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Cor. 6:9-10). We must lovingly confront homosexuals and share with them that there is forgiveness in Christ. The power of God can set captives free from the bondage of any sin when they are washed, sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (1 Cor. 6:11). In Christ, there will be victory and there will be joy and peace.

When God replaces man's stony heart with a heart of flesh, and opens his eyes to see the light of the Gospel, and he is humbled under the sovereign hand of God, he will turn from his sin to Jesus Christ in gratitude and thanksgiving. Then his mind, his will, and his heart will all join together in the power of the Holy Spirit to put to death the evil deeds of the flesh for the glory of God.

Pope Ignores Past Atrocities of His Religion While Condemning Violence in the Name of God

Pope Francis declared that believers must unite in condemning violence and to never use religion to justify warfare. "For the sake of peace, religious beliefs must never be allowed to be abused in the cause of violence and war," the Pope told Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic and Christian leaders during his Jan. 12-15 trip to Sri Lanka.  "We must be clear and unequivocal in challenging our communities to live fully the tenets of peace and coexistence found in each religion, and to denounce acts of violence when they are committed." During his remarks to the religious leaders, Pope Francis voiced his desire to reaffirm the Catholic Church's "sincere respect for you, your traditions and beliefs." He added, "I hope that my visit will help to encourage and deepen the various forms of interreligious and ecumenical cooperation which have been undertaken in recent years." Read more.

Mike's Comments: Before the Pope condemns religion as a means to justify violence and warfare, he should first acknowledge and apologize for all the atrocities, torture and murder perpetrated by his religion. Roman Catholicism has a history of persecuting and murdering millions of saints who would not bend their knee to the pope. There were eighty consecutive popes beginning in the 13th century that created or maintained the cruelest means of torturing non-Catholics. The Roman Catholic Church, under the direct orders of her popes, was the direct and immediate cause of systematized robbery, torture, and murder of millions of Bible believers, Jews, and others for 605 years. Former priest Richard Bennett and British historian Michael de Semlyen present the horrendous account of the Inquisition in this video.

On August 24, 1572, during the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre in France, approximately 100,000 Protestants were murdered by orders of the pope. Blood flowed like a river throughout the entire country. By the end of the 17th century and into the 18th century, roughly 300,000 Huguenots had to flee France because of persecution by Catholics.

Martyn Lloyd-Jones wrote, "Roman Catholicism is the devil's greatest masterpiece. It is such a departure from the Christian faith and the NT teaching that her dogma is a counterfeit, she is the whore. Let me warn you very solemnly that if you rejoice in these ecumenical approaches to Rome, you're denying the blood of the martyrs. There are innocent people who are being deluded by this kind of falsity and it is your business and mine to open their eyes."

Letters From Around the World

A friend sent me your anti-Catholic message and I found your propaganda not only severely insulting but hugely erroneous. It is so sad that you would print so many untruths about the Roman Catholic religion. The entire Catholic mass is based on scripture and includes many traditions of the Jewish faith, for after all, Jesus was Jewish. You are all wet, and proud of it! You not only lack understanding of our faith, but show a supreme lack of intelligence in reaching some of the conclusions you reach. In the crazy world where religion has caused so many wars, you might think an organization such as your might attempt to be inclusive of all faiths instead of trying to exclude devout people who have a strong faith and believe in the very same God you do. I am deeply ashamed of what you do in the name of religion! Ellis, Internet

Dear Ellis, Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We take all accusations seriously. In fact, I always offer to correct anything I have written if anyone shows me from the Bible or the Catechism where I have erred. Like most Catholics you failed to give specific errors and instead judged me as anti-Catholic. If I were anti-Catholic I would ignore you and let you march proudly towards hell's gate. However, like your friend who sent you my message, we have a love and compassion for Catholics who are victims of the worst kind of deception. As we provide objective, verifiable truth from God's Word, our hope is that Catholics will repent and turn to the true Gospel as it is revealed in Scripture.

Mike, I want to say that your ministry has been an enormous blessing to me in my understanding of the false doctrines of the RC religion, and on how to share the Gospel with Catholics. I have had the privilege of hearing you speak and there are few men who are more articulate with the truth, using only Scripture as the authority, and speaking with true humility and love. I have read your book Preparing for Eternity more than once and it has been a primary resource for friends who want to equip themselves. I stand beside you and your ministry, and cover you in prayer when the Lord brings you and your family to my thoughts. I just watched your DVD, Why Evangelize if God Has Already Chosen?. There has been a shift in some of the evangelical circles to defend the doctrines of Calvin which came right out of the RC religion and Augustine. Let me reiterate that I have and always will stand alongside of you in prayer, valuing you and your ministry.  I literally direct people to your website at least once a week or more. I agape you in Messiah, C.R., Minneapolis, MN

Dear C.R., Thank you for your encouragement and your concern. You bring up an issue that has been part of the church since the Reformation. I have never liked the label "Calvinism" because Calvin has been given too much credit for re-discovering the doctrines of election and God's sovereign grace. Remember the RCC had kept the Bible from the people and even put it on their list of forbidden books in the 16th century. Our ministry points people to Christ and His Word as the supreme authority and source for truth, not the fallible teachings of Calvin or the Reformers. The sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man are deep and complex subjects with lots of tension in the Bible. I don't believe we can comprehend all there is to know about our infinite, eternal God with our finite minds. However, I love digging deep into God's Word in an attempt to grasp all that He is and all that He is doing. That being said, G
od is the one who sovereignly chooses to bring spiritually dead sinners to life through His Word and Spirit. There is nothing more humbling to human pride (1 Pet. 1:23; James 1:18). The only thing we contribute to our salvation is our sin. It is God who initiates salvation and He carries it through to completion. I hope this helps.
God Says: Be Fruitful, Multiply and Fill the Earth; Pope Says: Don't Breed Like Rabbits

Good Roman Catholics do not need to breed like "rabbits", the Pope said, but should practice "responsible" parenting instead. Standing firm against artificial birth control, he said new life was "part of the sacrament of marriage". But he said population experts advised three children per family.

Rabbit breeders resented the pontiff's use of a derogatory cliche about libidinous bunnies, while birth control supporters said the analogy demeaned people, who should make whatever decisions they want about the number of children they have, and when they have them. Read more.

"Boy Who Came Back From Heaven" Recants Story, Rebukes Christian Retailers

LifeWay Christian Bookstores have been selling The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven for many years now. Now the boy has written an open letter to Lifeway and admonished them for not holding to the sufficiency of Scripture, and has recanted his tale. Christian publishers and retailers should have known better. They should have had the spiritual discernment, wisdom, compassion, and intestinal fortitude to not sell a book which contains, along with all books like it, deep theological problems. The LifeWay president was alerted to "heaven scam" books by Justin Peters months before pulling the book.

Following is the recantation from the boy, Alex Malarkey: "I did not die. I did not go to Heaven. I said I went to heaven because I thought it would get me attention. When I made the claims that I did, I had never read the Bible. People have profited from lies, and continue to. They should read the Bible, which is enough. The Bible is the only source of truth. Anything written by man cannot be infallible. It is only through repentance of your sins and a belief in Jesus as the Son of God, who died for your sins so that you can be forgiven. I want the whole world to know that the Bible is sufficient. Those who market these materials must be called to repent and hold the Bible as enough." Read more.

Evangelicals Continue to Compromise

Mike joins Brannon Howse to discuss why Governor Jindal of Louisiana is hosting the ecumenical prayer rally with the American Family Association. Jindal, a former Hindu, now calls himself an evangelical Catholic. Mike also talks about Russell Moore of the Southern Baptist Convention saying he wants to see more people with Catholic rosaries at upcoming pro-life functions. Mike also responds to the popes who declare that no one can get to heaven outside of the Catholic Church. Here is the interview.
Two Dead, Hundreds Injured as Filipino Crowd Rushes to Cross With Healing Powers

Two people are dead and hundreds more were injured as the result of massive throngs that followed and sought to press up against a centuries-old statue of Christ that was marched through the streets of Manila as part of an annual Roman Catholic celebration called the Feast of the Black Nazarene. While the large number of those filling the streets could not be counted with surety, police in the Philippines estimate that at times more than half a million Filipinos participated in the procession. Roman Catholics carry white cloths and seek to touch the wooden carving of Jesus carrying the cross out of their belief that it possesses healing powers. Read more.

An Excellent Tract for False Converts

The most terrifying words professing Christians could ever hear would be if Jesus Christ said to them, "I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness" (Matt. 7:23). This tract asks the question: "Are you sure this will not happen to you?" It encourages people to test themselves to see if they have genuine faith.

The Supremacy and  Sufficiency of our Lord Jesus Christ

God's Gospel reveals all the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished to save sinners from the power, punishment, and ultimately, the presence of sin: righteousness had to be perfected, divine justice had to be satisfied, blood had to be shed, redemption had to be paid, sins had to be forgiven, reconciliation had to be achieved, death had to be conquered, and salvation had to be secured.
What a glorious Savior we have to proclaim!
