Pope Attempts to Change God's Moral Laws

The Synod of Bishops, on the Pastoral Challenges of the Family, which ran from October 5-19, has created some heated discussions on the new direction the Roman Catholic Church may be taking. The primary topics of Synod included softening the church's position on homosexuals and birth control, streamlining the annulment process and improving pastoral care of divorced and remarried Catholics. It is appalling that there is any discussion on issues where God's authoritative Word has already established His position. No church or pope has the right to ratify a moral position that is inconsistent with God's Divine Law. Marriage was established and clearly defined by God, and no one has the right to pervert what He ordained.

Pope Francis urged the participating bishops to speak their minds clearly and fearlessly. He didn't want to censor the conversation and thereby prevent "the truth" from emerging. One highly controversial proposal suggested that homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community, and the church should provide for these people and guarantee them a place of fellowship. They said that the question of homosexuality requires serious reflection on how to devise realistic approaches to growth and maturation in the Gospel.

Roman Catholic gay rights groups around the world hailed the report as a breakthrough, but Church conservatives called it a betrayal of traditional family values. While the text did not signal any change in the Church's condemnation of homosexual acts or gay marriage, it used less judgmental and more compassionate language than seen in statements prior to the election of Pope Francis.

The Synod also expressed the need to make annulment cases more accessible for divorced and separated people to allow them to partake of the Eucharist. An annulment is a legal procedure for declaring a marriage null and void. Unlike divorce, it is retroactive, meaning that an annulled marriage is invalid from the beginning as if it had never happened.

In his closing address Pope Francis questioned the temptation of "traditionalists" with their "hostile inflexibility" and their failure to allow themselves to be "surprised by God." Read more.

Mike's Comments: I was visiting the Vatican the day before the Synod concluded and have since been interviewed on two national radio shows. Clearly, this pope is trying to take the Roman Catholic Church in a new direction. My one hour interview on Crosstalk of VCY America can be heard here. My 30-minute
interview on the Janet Mefferd Show can be heard here
Kirk Cameron Called to Repent for Encouraging Christians to Celebrate Halloween

Kirk Cameron pointed to the Roman Catholic roots of Halloween and encouraged Christians to take it back to its origin instead of seeing it as something demonic. The Christian News Network asked Mike Gendron to comment. He said, "Kirk Cameron needs to repent of his message that urges Christians to participate in this dark holiday that glorifies the devil, ghosts, goblins and witches. Furthermore, the celebration of Halloween obscures and overshadows the anniversary of the Reformation, one of the great dates of the Christian calendar." Gendron stated, "On October 31st while Kirk Cameron is urging people to celebrate Halloween, our ministry will be encouraging people to remember the Reformers who were brutally tortured, murdered and burned at the stake by the Roman Catholic Church for defending the Gospel of Jesus Christ." Pope Affirms Big Bang Theory

Pope Francis reaffirmed long-held Catholic beliefs that evolution is not "inconsistent" with Creation. "When we read about Creation in Genesis, we run the risk of imagining God was a magician, with a magic wand able to do everything. But that is not so," he told those gathered for a discussion on Evolving Concepts of Nature. He said, "The Big Bang, which today we hold to be the origin of the world, does not contradict the intervention of the divine creator but, rather, requires it."

In a related story, an influential Catholic astronomer, who works at the Holy See, said the the literal interpretation of the Genesis creation account is "almost blasphemous theology." Read more.

Mike's Comment: Where is the outrage among Catholics? If there are any Catholics who believe the Bible is the supreme authority for truth they would recognize this pope is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He continues to deceive Catholics by suppressing the truth of God's word in unrighteousness. He continues to exchange the truth of God for a lie and exchange the glory of the immortal God for a wafer. He has become futile in his thinking and his foolish heart has been darkened. I pray the veil of blindness will be lifted from the hearts of Catholics as they turn to Christ and His Word for truth (2 Cor. 3:15-16).
Letters From Around the World

Dear Mike, My husband and I watched your DVD "False Converts In The Church" and both messages are very good! I have watched eleven of your DVDs and you give more scripture truths in your sermons than we ever hear at church. Years ago, without my knowledge, my daughter and only child, joined the Roman Catholic Church, to please her friends. She married a Catholic, and raised her two children as Catholic. I pray for God to open her heart to His truth of the Gospel. It breaks my heart that she refuses anything biblical that I try to share with her. May God continue to bless your ministry. L.O., Lorraine, KS

Dear Mike, Thank you for the love that you show to those who are lost. My wife and I were once among the countless souls deceived by popery. Our brother-in-law was a staunch Catholic who always attended daily mass. We became estranged from him 18 years ago when we shared God's Gospel with his wife and she was born again from above. Last January he became gravely ill with cancer. As we were intimately involved in his care, he witnessed the love of Christ seasoned with the truth of God's word. During the darkest four months of his life, we witnessed a miraculous softening of his heart and this very proud closed off man was now humble and repenting of his own sinfulness. He wept when he recounted his hatred and mistreatment towards us over the years and he asked for forgiveness. He said that although the tumor had paralyzed him physically, he felt spiritually alive. After praying for him for almost twenty years, we were humbled that God would allow us to witness his miraculous salvation in the final weeks of his life. He requested that his funeral be held in a Christian church and hundreds of his unsaved friends and family attended and heard the Gospel of Christ that saved him. J. & L. W., Haddon Heights, NJ

EU Proposes Crushing Sanctions Against Israel
star of davud

The European Union's massive bureaucracy is planning to impose crippling economic and cultural sanctions on Israel if the Jewish state does not agree to unilaterally withdraw behind the 1949 Armistice lines. The purpose of the plan, coming just weeks after the end of Hamas' 50 day terror war against Israel, is not only to punish Israel economically but to deprive the small but vibrant democracy of its political legitimacy; something that the international community, including the EU, extends to virtually every other country on earth, including Cuba, North Korea, and Iran. The revelations come on the heels of Sweden's decision to become the first sitting member of the 28 nation EU to recognize the so-called "State of Palestine." The latest "Israeli outrage," to which the EU and others, including US President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry are taking such offense, is the announcement by Israel to construct roughly 2600 more apartment units in Jerusalem.

While strong pro-Israel support by the US Congress and among the American people prevents President Obama from imposing sanctions similar to those being drawn up by the EU now, the Obama administration has used its executive powers to develop a series of its own stealth punishments against the Middle East's only democracy. Mike's Comment: Prior to Israel becoming a sovereign nation again in 1948, there was no mention of a Palestinian people; in fact there has never been a Palestinian state, a language or a culture. It was not until 1964 that an organization called the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was founded. Furthermore, no Arab state has ever had Jerusalem as a capital. Those who are aggressively pushing for a Palestinian statehood for the Muslim Arab people should consider that the Koran never mentions Jerusalem, yet the Bible cites it over 800 times.
Pope Calls for Unity Among All Christians

Speaking to the crowds that filled Saint Peter's Square, Pope Francis repeated his consistent theme of warning against divisiveness among Christians. He said that these divisions "in addition to injuring the Church, hurt Christ himself, who, before he died, strongly called upon the Father for the unity of all his disciples. There are many people here, sharing our faith in Christ, belonging to other faith confessions or traditions...do we believe that it's possible to walk towards reconciliation and full communion?" The pope stressed that we are called to pray for the unity of Christians and accentuate that which unites us: "Jesus and the richness of his love." Read more.

Mike's Comment: It is not the "love" of Jesus that unites Christians, rather it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Those who repent and believe the true Gospel of Christ are baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body (1 Cor. 12:13). Biblical unity is not a work of man but a work of the Holy Spirit and, once united by the Spirit, Christians are called to maintain that unity (Eph. 4:3). The pope's gospel is a false and fatal gospel that unites all those who are on the broad road to destruction (Mat. 7:13). Their only hope is to repent and discover the narrow road that leads to eternal life. May God give us all a greater compassion for those who are perishing.
America Was Warned About Catholicism

The man who wrote the preface to the 1833 edition of John Fox's Book of Martyrs gave a grim warning to America that we did not heed. Here is his warning.

To the American people, within a short period, the attention of the Pope of Rome has been directed to North America, and systematic efforts are now making, under his immediate patronage, and at his expense, to introduce and establish this corrupt system, in various parts of our land. Already, Catholic Churches are being erected; Catholic priests and emissaries are arriving by scores; publications, designed to eulogize and recommend the system are circulating abroad. The question presents itself to the American people: "Shall this system find encouragement in the land of the pilgrims?" Such a root of bitterness, we wish not to see planted here. Yet, while friends of truth should not be needlessly alarmed, neither should they sleep. A holy vigilance should guard well the approaches of an enemy, whose triumphs here would be the ruin of that fair fabric which cost our fathers so much toil to erect. What friend of Zion does not tremble at only the possibility that papal darkness and papal thraldom may overspread even a portion of our country.
Contrasting Quotes by Singer/Song Writers

Elton John called Pope Francis "my hero" for his push to accept gays in the Catholic Church. He said the church should "Make this man a saint now."

The late Keith Green wrote: "The fear, anguish, and religious bondage that [the Catholic] system of 'reward and punishment' creates, has tormented millions of lives for centuries, and continues to prey on those who are ignorant of the biblical way of salvation...Never has something so black and wicked, gotten away with appearing so holy and mysteriously beautify." Read more.
May God give us all a greater passion for the truth and a compelling desire to share it with others.

This timely message on the Crisis in the Church looks at some of the causes including: a lack of reverence for God and His Word, a man-centered evangelism that is producing tares in the church, the rejection of God's call to repentance, the compromise of the Gospel, and the pursuit of unity with apostate Christianity. The second message is Money and the Mark of the Beast.

The Supremacy and  Sufficiency of our Lord Jesus Christ

God's Gospel reveals all the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished to save sinners from the power, punishment, and ultimately, the presence of sin: righteousness had to be perfected, divine justice had to be satisfied, blood had to be shed, redemption had to be paid, sins had to be forgiven, reconciliation had to be achieved, death had to be conquered, and salvation had to be secured.
What a glorious Savior we have to proclaim to those who are in bondage to sin!
