Why Can't Born Again Christians Remain in the Catholic Church?
 
This is a question we have been asked many times in our 23 years of ministry. We must answer it with the authority of God's Word. When Catholics repent and believe the Gospel of God, they are born again and the indwelling Holy Spirit will lead them out of spiritual darkness into the glorious light of Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15; Eph. 1:13-14). As they abide in God's Word, they will know the truth and the truth will set them free from religious bondage and deception (John 8:31-32). Then they will look for a church that worships God in Spirit and truth because that is the kind of worshippers God seeks (John 4:24). Anyone who says they have been born again, yet refuses to leave a false religion that deceives people with another gospel, must examine themselves to see if they have genuine saving faith (2 Cor. 13:5). Christians are called to walk according to the truth which means, as they become more and more passionate for the truth, they will turn away from any falsehood that stands opposed to God's Word.

 

One of Catholicism's false practices is described as a doctrine of demons in the Bible. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul wrote that some will "depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons through the insincerity of liars whose consciences have been seared who forbid people to marry" (1 Tim. 4:1-4). Catholicism is the only religion that names the name of Christ and forbids its clergy to marry, thus proving that some of its teachings are directly opposed to Scripture.

 

Another reason true converts must leave Catholicism is that it demands submission of every person's will and intellect to the bishops' teachings. Catholic bishops are said to be the only authentic instructors and teachers of the faith, and Catholics are bound to adhere to their teaching with a religious submission of the mind (Canon Law, 753). 

 

A third reason to leave is that the Word of God condemns the Catholic clergy for preaching another gospel (Gal. 1:6-9). The Catholic plan of salvation nullifies God's saving grace by adding works, sacraments, purgatory and law-keeping to the Gospel. Not to be outdone, Catholic bishops responded by condemning born again Christians with over 100 anathemas from the Councils of Trent and Vatican II.  Read more about anathemas.
Why Do People Become Catholic?
 
John Beaumont, the author of The Mississippi Flows into the Tiber: A Guide to Notable American Catholic Converts to the Catholic Church gave eight reasons why people convert to Catholicism. Following is a summary of his interesting observations: 

1. Visibility: Catholicism foreshadows the New Jerusalem with its very real and tangible buildings, clerical uniforms, rituals, and laws.
2. Universality: By spanning the entire globe its gospel becomes more credible.
3. Endurance: The continuity of teaching and ministry is nothing short of miraculous - especially during times of high status, prominence, and privilege when worldly seductions are powerful.
4. Authority: When we are going headlong in the wrong direction, we need to hear a sharp word spoken with authority: Stop!
5. Beauty: The Church's musical, artistic, or literary legacy caresses us with the truth of God in Christ.
6. Hierarchy: The hierarchy of laity, priest, and Christ is felt at every Mass, one that echoes the Temple in Jerusalem and its high priests.
7. Saints: The saints offer a great cloud of witnesses. There are countless saints to teach others what they need to know.
8. Moral witness: Human beings don't want moral mediocrity. We desire to live in accord with higher standards, certainly ones higher than those our age offers. The Catholic Church satisfies this desire.
 
Mike's Comment: I am not surprised that the truth of God's Word is not included in the list of reasons people convert to Catholicism. In fact, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the reason Catholics leave their religion to worship God in Spirit and truth (John 4:24). I also found it strange that "Moral Witness" was given as one or the attractions of Catholicism. Clearly, the opposite is true. Many Catholics have left their immoral religion because of the widespread scandal and convictions of sexual abuse crimes committed by Catholic priests and nuns against children as young as three years old.
More Christian Leaders Meet with Pope
 
James and Betty Robison, co-hosts of the Life Today television program, and Kenneth Copeland, co-host of Believer's Voice of Victory, met with the pope at the Vatican last moth. Mr. Robison said, "This meeting was a miracle.... This is something God has done. God wants his arms around the world. And he wants Christians to put his arms around the world by working together." Mike's Comment: The first Jesuit pope is on an accelerated pace to reverse the Reformation. That is what the Jesuits were commissioned to do in 1540. While many believe the counter reformation is over because their are no more bloody inquisitions, the Jesuits have a new strategy. They are calling "separated brethren" back home to Rome for the fullness of salvation through the pope's Eucharistic Evangelization appeal. The counter reformation has also been successful through education and government. According to "The Jesuit Way," there are now over one million people living in America who have graduated from Jesuit high schools and universities. This Jesuit pope also continues to seek and find soft spots among protestant leaders to beguile them into his web of deception that will form the one world religion. This counterfeit church worships a false Christ, preaches a false and fatal gospel, is led by another spirit and a false prophet who has stolen titles given to the triune God - Holy Father, Head of the Church and Vicar of Christ. 
Could the Pope and Archbishop of Canterbury Unite the Church?
 
The Archbishop of Canterbury met the Pope for the second time since the two men took office just over a year ago. They have agreed to a joint project to use the worldwide reach of their churches to combat the global trade in human trafficking. But what was also striking was the commitment the two men made to merge their two churches. Pope Francis said that "the goal of full unity remains the aim which should direct our every step along the way". Read more.
The First Church-Mosque-Synagogue?

There will soon be a house of worship for three monotheistic faiths called the House of One. A church, a synagogue, and a mosque will all occupy a prominent site in the heart of Berlin, Germany. The imam involved, Kadir Sanci, sees the House of One as "a sign, a signal to the world that the great majority of Muslims are peaceful and not violent." He said, "It's also a place where different cultures can learn from each other." Read more.

Mike, You are even more on fire than ever before! I just listened to your latest message and I called my brother in tears. I fear that our church is apostate, with no hope. I've come to love a few of our leaders, and fear that they have done many of the things you are saying. Misusing scripture, for their own end, and loving all their man-centered methods of evangelism that has done nothing but fill the church with tares. Over the course of the last year or so, I find myself not really respecting them as leaders and overseers. Lack of trust, and lack and of discernment is what I sense in them. The latest ploy is "Purpose Driven" studies in the Men's ministry. The Lord has called us as watchmen, but many have left their post, and let the wolves walk right on in. I lovingly rebuked 2 pastors and now I am ignored as if I don't exist. What kind of shepherd leaves part of the flock out in the cold? Leaving, and finding another place to serve is difficult. My wife and I and the children all serve in the youth and children's ministry. I feel broken hearted and in a difficult place. Please keep me in prayer. Mike, The articles in your newsletters makes me upset because I see so many demonic teachings coming out of the Catholic church. Since it is repulsive to us, how much more to the Lord! It's really nauseating to read about at all the perversion in the Catholic Church. There is no fear of God as they assault the Gospel of the Lord Jesus. I am thankful to the Lord for your earnestness to contend for the faith. The newsletter is a big reminder for me that I am enlisted as a soldier in the Lord's army and I must stand firm in the truth and speak up continually for the glory of God! It's an ongoing battle and there is never a time to let the enemy go unchallenged!

St. Louis Archbishop Didn't Know Sex With Children Was a Crime
 
The St. Louis archbishop embroiled in a sexual abuse scandal testified last month that he didn't know in the 1980s whether it was illegal for priests to have sex with children, according to a court deposition released Monday. Archbishop Robert Carlson, who was chancellor of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul at the time, was deposed as part of a lawsuit against the Twin Cities archdiocese and the Diocese of Winona, Minnesota. In a video released by the St. Paul law firm Jeff Anderson & Associates, the Catholic archbishop is asked whether he had known it was a crime for an adult to engage in sex with a child. "I'm not sure whether I knew it was a crime or not," Carlson responded. "I understand today it's a crime." When asked when he first realized it was a crime for an adult - including priests - to have sex with a child, Carlson, 69, shook his head. "I don't remember," he testified. Read more.

Is Mary the Mother of the Evangelizing Church?

Hundreds of clergy, religious, and laity processed through the Vatican gardens in a candlelight vigil to mark the close of a month traditionally dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Led by Cardinal Comastri, the pilgrims prayed the rosary and sang Marian hymns as evening fell over the Vatican. Cardinal Comastri began the procession by reading from Pope Francis' recent encyclical, Evangelii Gaudium which states that Mary is "the mother of the evangelizing Church and without her we cannot fully understand the spirit of the new evangelization."
