The Bondage of Religious Deception

Many former Catholics have looked back on their experience of participating in the weekly Sacrifice of the Mass as a "prison sentence." It was something they were forced to attend to avoid the penalty of a mortal sin. Others remember it as a mindless ritual of standing, sitting, kneeling and reciting responses as the priest performed his religious duties. All Catholics are obligated by the laws of their church to attend church every week: "On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass" (Catechism of the Catholic Church [CCC], para. 2180). With this law so explicit and demanding, the question begs an answer: Why is participation so compulsory for Catholics? The answers are complex and controversial.

According to the Catechism, "The Mass is...the sacrificial memorial in which the sacrifice of the cross is perpetuated" (CCC para. 1382). "The Eucharist is thus a sacrifice because it re-presents the sacrifice of the cross....the sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice: The victim is one and the same. In this divine sacrifice...the same Christ who offered himself once in a bloody manner on the altar of the cross is contained and is offered in an unbloody manner" (CCC para. 1366,1367). Catholics express their faith in the real presence of Jesus by genuflecting as a sign of adoration of the Lord. Read more.
The Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ
GospelCards

The glorious Gospel of grace is the greatest news anyone could ever hear because it reveals the greatest gift anyone could ever receive from the greatest Man who ever lived. Our Gospel Cards define and explain the 12 most important words of the Gospel using Scripture references. Following are some of the amazing characteristics of God's Gospel:

It is unique - God's only message of salvation (1 Cor. 15:1-2).

It is eternal - the same unchanging message for every generation (Rev. 14:6).

It is exclusive - declaring that all other faiths are false (John 14:6; Mat. 7:13-14).

It is of grace - those who add anything to it stand condemned (Gal. 1:6-9).

It is according to Scripture alone - everything about salvation is fully contained in the Bible. It is not according to man's religious traditions (2 Tim. 3:15, 1 Cor. 15:1-4).

It is about one person - no other name is given by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

It is about two events - the unique, historical, unrepeatable, atoning death of Jesus Christ and His glorious resurrection from the dead (1 Cor. 15:1-4).

It is rejected by many - The most powerful tool Satan uses to blind people from the light of the Gospel is religious pride (2 Cor. 4:4).

It must be proclaimed - The Great Commission is not an option for Christians. It is an imperative command that demonstrates our love for the Savior when it is obeyed.

Our Gospel Cards were produced to help encourage and equip you to communicate the Gospel more effectively and clearly. You can order a set of Gospel Cards here.
The Canonization of Popes and Necromancy

Popes John Paul II and John XXIII were canonized by Pope Francis on April 27th. As part of the rites, Pope Francis was presented with relics from both of the two men - a vial of blood belonging to John Paul II and a fleck of skin from the body of John XXIII. He kissed each container and placed them at the altar.

According to the Word of God, the veneration and consultation of the dead are prohibited in Scripture (Deut. 18:10-12). Furthermore, anyone who came into contact with a dead person or a grave was considered unclean and could not take part in worship (Numbers 19:16; Leviticus 21:1). Yet, as part of the canonization ceremony, relics of each of the new saints were presented to Pope Francis. The worship of the dead is practiced and commanded in Catholicism. Not only in the veneration of so-called 'saints,' but every altar must have a relic of a dead saint. This is pagan necromancy, which the Bible strictly forbids.

Mike Gendron was interviewed on the Crosstalk radio program which airs on the nationwide VCY America network. He was asked to give a biblical perspective on the papacy and the canonization of saints. You can hear the interview here.

The Christian News Network also interviewed Mike for his biblical insight on necromancy and the canonization of saints. The interview is available here.
Our New Gospel Tract - True Faith or False Hope

We thank all of you who submitted titles for our new Gospel tract for false converts. Based on your responses, there is a great need for this tract because our churches are filled with "Christians' who demonstrate little or no evidence of Spirit-filled life
. This tract will encourage Christians to examine themselves to see if they have true faith. We received over 100 suggestions for the title. The one we chose will hopefully encourage people to read it. The tract should be ready to ship by May 9th. You can order it here.

"Visits" to Heaven and Hell

The following article by Justin Peters of
Justin Peters Ministry discusses some of the serious theological problems with the numerous claims of people "visiting" heaven or hell and then coming back to write a best-selling book about it.

The Bible describes Heaven as a place of surpassing beauty where there is no pain, no sorrow, no sickness, no disease, no death. It is where the triune God resides in all of His glory. For those of us who are saved, the redeemed of God through Christ, it is our eternal home. Though none of us look forward to the process of dying, as Christians we enthusiastically answer the question asked by Job, "If a man dies, will he live again?" with a resounding "yes." We look forward to being completely and eternally free of fallen bodies living in a fallen world. But for some people, it seems that Heaven (and occasionally Hell) can't wait.

Though Near Death Experiences (NDEs) have been reported for hundreds and even thousands of years, the last several decades have seen an explosion of people come forward claiming that they have seen the other side, both Heaven and Hell. Many of these people are not Christian at all. For the purposes of this article, however, we will focus on some of the more prominent ones claiming to be believers in Christ. I will begin this article by providing an overview of some of the more prominent recent examples and will then offer an evaluation of each. While space does not permit an exhaustive review of each account, some of the more important and theologically pertinent points will be examined. Continue reading

Letters From Around the World

Sir, You have many strange ideas that you say come from the Bible but that is your interpretation. You are not that smart or learned in theology. I don't need your narrow-mindedness and prejudice and hatred of what you don't understand. I am not sure God is that happy with your condemnation of His Church and the people who don't think your way. You dismiss all of The Church Fathers who wrote from 100 AD to 500 AD. How many followers do you have? God will straighten you out when the time comes which might be closer then you think. D.J., Internet

D.J., Our theology should be built on the solid foundation of Scripture, not the Church Fathers. How do you know that some of the Church Fathers you are trusting are not the ones St. Paul warned us about when he wrote: "after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them" (Acts 20:29-30). It is not I who have condemned the Catholic Church, it is the Word of God. Scripture condemns with anathema anyone who preaches a gospel contrary to the Gospel of grace (Gal. 1:6-9). Finally, the last thing I want anyone to do is follow me or believe my words. This is why I exhort them to follow Christ and His Word which is the only way to enter the narrow gate that leads to life (Mat. 7:14).

Dear Mike,  Even though I am only on page 46 of "Preparing For Eternity", I couldn't help but write and thank you for investing the time necessary to put this vitally important work together. As I look back over the first five chapters, I notice there is not one page on which I have not underlined something. How great it would be to put one of your books in the hands of every Roman Catholic and Anglican priest. My prayers are with you as you labor in this huge mission field. I pray with you that the laborers will increase, and as a result, many who are blind will see. T.G., Palm Coast, FL

Dear Mike, The prevailing attitude among denominations is to simply ignore the millions of Catholics who are perishing. I am pushing 70 and have never heard a sermon on Catholicism. The evangelization of Catholics is the responsibility of all denominations, not just one faithful servant in Texas. D.S., El Dorado Springs, MO

Mike, I really appreciate the hard work you do to bring lost souls to Jesus. Your materials were instrumental in bringing me out of Catholicism into a true relationship with Christ. This, in turn, brought salvation for my children and grandchildren. I am now leading a prayer group with about 10 ladies who love Jesus. We have seen how faithful He is to answer our prayers. C.J., Garden City KS
Warren Endorses Catholics Come Home Book

Catholics Come Home: God's Extraordinary Plan for Your Life is the name of a new book that is taking Rome and the world by storm, with the following incredible endorsement by Rick Warren. "The mission of Tom Peterson and Catholics Come Home to bring souls home to Jesus and the church is critically important during this challenging time in our history. I fully support this new evangelization project." In an interview on the Catholic EWTN Network he said his favorite TV show is Chaplets of Divine Mercy. He also talked about how he loved a headline in a local newspaper that said, "If you love Pope Francis you will love Jesus."

Mike's Comment: Rick Warren's endorsement of a book calling Catholics home to an apostate religion that shuts the gates of heaven to those wanting to enter is a grievous offense. He either does not know the exclusivity of the Gospel of grace or he does not know how Roman Catholicism has corrupted and perverted it.
Holy Spirit Started the Ecumenical Work?

The Pontifical Council for the Laity is hosting the Pastors, Leaders, Clergy Summit 2014 this month in Virginia. Speakers will include Roman Catholic and evangelical leaders including Jack Hayford, James Robison, Keith Fournier and Dr. Tom Phillips, VP of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The organizer of the summit, Deacon Wentworth, was asked, "Do you envision a united Christianity prior to the Second Coming?" He responded, "I love what Pope Francis said: 'When God starts something, He finishes it well.' Church unity was not started by us. The Holy Spirit started the ecumenical work. He will finish it well. He will finish it completely. He will finish it on time, in His way, according to His plan. He is the only one who can. We simply need to cooperate with him and be like Mother Mary and continue to say 'yes' to each open door. When the Holy Spirit throws open the door, we need to rush into the room. Pope Francis knocked down the door, dismantled the hinges, and threw the doors out of the way with his video. We need to run into the room before those who hate the unity of Jesus' Church have time to rebuild the door and lock it again." Read more.
Two Years of Perpetual Idolatry

St. Jude the Apostle Parish celebrated its second year of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration.  The adoration of Jesus Christ exposed in the Blessed Sacrament is an ancient practice of the Catholic Church which has seen a significant resurgence in recent years. Pope Francis testifies to the importance of Eucharistic Adoration in his life: "What I really prefer is adoration in the evening, even when I get distracted and think of other things, or even fall asleep praying. In the evening then, between 7 and 8 o'clock, I stay in front of the Blessed Sacrament for an hour in adoration." Read more.

DVD of the Month
The most terrifying words a Christian could ever hear would be the Lord Jesus saying, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness'" (Mat. 7:21-23). How can I be sure it won't happen to me? This DVD encourages us to examine ourselves to insure our faith is genuine
(2 Cor. 13:5).
This book will equip you to be an effective witness to Catholics and it will also force Catholics to choose between two diametrically-opposed authorities for their salvation: their Bible or their Catechism.
