Contending for the Faith           by Mike Gendron

We are living in that period of time when the Bible says there will be a growing apostasy. More and more people are falling away from the faith while fewer and fewer Christians are contending for it. Jesus confirmed the great apostasy of the end times when he asked a profound question. "When the Son of Man returns will he find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8). From our Lord's rhetorical question we get an indication of how spiritually dark the world will become as the light of the Gospel diminishes.

The greatest threat to the Christian faith may be the apathy among most believers to contend for the faith. There are very few courageous Christians who are willing to fight for the truth. As the battle for the souls of men intensifies, we can never let a lie of the devil go unabated. We must speak the truth in love! Jude's exhortation to contend for the faith is so applicable for the church today (Jude 3). Attacks on the faith are coming from all over. Every Christian needs to enlist in the Lord's army and fight the good fight of faith. Together we can contend against false teachers, ecumenism, compromised gospels from seeker friendly, purpose-driven and emerging churches, the New Apostolic Reformation, heretical books, mysticism, contemplative prayer, myths of people going to heaven and coming back, yoga, "psycho babel," and doctrines of demons.

It is so easy for unregenerate people to do ungodly things against the Christian faith. However, Christians, who desire to do godly things, must be exhorted to contend for the faith. For this reason, I offer an important message for all of us to take a stand for truth!

Pope Francis Seeks Unity with Charismatics

More than a few eyebrows were raised when Pope Francis sent a video message to Word of Faith preacher, Kenneth Copeland and his congregation requesting they, as separated brothers, seek unity with the Catholic Church. In the video message, the pope said he was their brother in Christ and God will complete the miracle of unity. Using the story of Joseph, he described how Joseph's separated brothers reunited with him as they were searching for food. Bishop Tony Parker declared: "Luther's protest is over." Copeland found this development incredible. He said, "Heaven is thrilled over this...You know what is so thrilling to me? When we went into the ministry 47 years ago, this was impossible." Read more.

Mike's comment: Since Catholicism teaches the Eucharist is necessary for the "fullness" of salvation, the pope was implying that Protestants must search for the food of eternal life and return to the Catholic Church for the Eucharist. Biblical prophecy reveals that all religions and apostate Christianity will unite as the harlot of Revelation. As this pope pushes hard for a global religion to be united under the papacy, we have a timely message on DVD that uncovers the Vatican's ecumenical strategy and how Christians must contend against it. Mary and Her Icons are Omnipresent

In an article published by Catholic News Agency entitled Mary, Mother of Saints, Mother of All, the author declares that both Mary and her iconography are omnipresent. The author writes: "While Mary gives unfailing sustenance, it is precisely her gentle omnipresence in our lives that can make us take her for granted." In another paragraph the author says, "Our heavenly mother listens and speaks to us, and comforts us in many guises. She is present to us under many names, such as Mother of Mercy, Mother of Help, Mother of Divine Grace, and many more. Her splendid iconography is omnipresent like the crucifix, her love shining forth through the radiance of her face. Yet her loving presence is always gentle. We know that she is always our last resort." Read more.

Mike's comment: Catholics continue to distort their version of Mary by giving her attributes of God including: omnipresence, sinlessness, co-mediator and advocate. This is what happens when an apostate church denies the supreme authority of God's Word.
Letters From Around the World

Hi Mike, I am so upset right now and just needed to write you. I am a former RC and have been wonderfully saved for 38 years. I just saw the Pope's video tape at Kenneth Copeland's conference calling for unity with Charismatics. I am shaking and heart pounding!!! We are looking at the beginnings of the one-world religion and the false prophet for sure. The "bishop" giving the introduction with his slick style and twisting of scripture is almost more than I can stand. I don't know how you do this ministry, but I feel that I am somehow being called to stand up for the truth. Most born-again Christians do not know anything about the doctrines of the RC and they are amazed that someone would believe that way when I tell them. However the Catholic radio apologists are so smooth and good at tricking someone who is unaware. If we don't counter this many Christians are going to fall into the one-world church. Again, I can't imagine doing what you do and I am praying for you to have the strength you need. Theresa P., Santa Maria, CA

Hello Mike, I am a French woman from Quebec, Canada. Thank you so much for the 7 videos you posted on Catholicism, because you answered all the questions that I had for so many years. I left the Catholic Church 2 months ago, but I am alone, in that, I am the first to leave from my big Catholic family. But i know that it was the Holy Spirit who brought me out and it was the right thing to do! I can not stop reading the Bible everyday because it is real food for my soul. I really appreciate your work for Jesus, and the pure message of His Gospel. Julienne C., Quebec

Jesus Offered on Altars for Salvation of the World

Pope Francis has once again gone against historical Catholic teaching by declaring the Mass is not a "representation" of Jesus Christ. He said, "it is something else: it is the Last Supper itself. It is to really live once more the Passion and the redeeming Death of the Lord. It is a theophany: the Lord is made present on the altar to be offered to the Father for the salvation of the world." The pope also said, "The Lord speaks to His people in many ways: through the priests, the Sacred Scriptures." But with theophanies, He speaks in another way, "different from the Word: it is another presence, closer, without mediation, near. It is His presence." Read more:
PBS Exposes Secrets of the Vatican

The Roman Catholic Church is enjoying some of its best press in decades, and hundreds of thousands of alienated Catholics are returning, thanks in large part to the new, and in some cases revolutionary, leadership of Pope Francis.
But a new documentary by PBS called "Secrets of the Vatican" exposes the morally wrenching controversies that threatened to destroy the church's credibility.
UN Blasts Vatican on Sex Abuse

The United Nations accused the Vatican of systematically turning a blind eye to decades of sexual abuse of children by priests. The UN demanded the Vatican immediately turn over known or suspected offenders to civil justice. The Vatican, as a sovereign nation, is a signatory of the U.N. Convention of the Rights of the Child. It was that U.N. committee which accused Church officials of imposing a "code of silence" on clerics and moving abusers from parish to parish "in an attempt to cover up such crimes."

The UN said the Holy See must hand over an archive of evidence about the abuse of tens of thousands of children. The UN said it was "gravely concerned that the Holy See has adopted policies and practices which have led to the continuation of the abuse by the perpetrators." The Vatican has demonstrated that they are above civil law, but the UN is saying the State has a duty to protect its citizens against natural injury at someone else's hands, whether the aggressor is an ecclesiastical person or not. Catholic Church Cleanses Sin

Pope Francis told Catholics to ask God for the grace to die in our spiritual "home", within the heart of the Church. We are all sinners, he said, but the Church is like a mother who takes us just as we are, even with our stains, and makes us clean. Read more.

Mike's comment: What a contrast this is with the faith of born-again Christians. Our hope is not in the church but in the Lord Jesus Christ. Only by faith in His precious blood can we be cleansed from all sin (1 John 1:7). When Jesus obtained purification for sin, He sat down at the right hand of God in heaven (Heb. 1:3). For a true follower of Christ, death is but a passage into the glory of heaven. At the moment of death, we are absent from the body and present with our Lord (2 Cor. 5:8). Alleluia!
Pope's Trip to Israel Used to Support Palestinians
star of davud

Pope Francis apparently plans to use his upcoming visit to Israel in May as a propaganda move for the Palestine Authority against Israel, according to reports in Makor Rishon. The revelation comes from Rabbi Bergman, a close friend of Pope Francis, who claimed the pope intends to define himself as the "Che Guevera of the Palestinians" and support their "struggle and rights." In late December it was similarly noted that the pope will not host "mass" prayer services in Jerusalem during his trip, but instead in PA-controlled Bethlehem as a show of support. The move is slightly ironic, as most Christians have reportedly been driven out of the city by Muslims, while Abbas has claimed "Jesus was Palestinian." Read more.
Catholics and Muslims Adore the Same God

In his continuing effort to unite all religions under the papacy Pope Francis has declared that Catholics and Muslims adore the same god. In his recent apostolic exhortation, he said: "Our relationship with the followers of Islam has taken on great importance, since they are now significantly present in many traditionally Christian countries, where they can freely worship and become fully a part of society. We must never forget that they 'profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, who will judge humanity on the last day.'" Francis says the "sacred writings of Islam have retained some Christian teachings; Jesus and Mary receive profound veneration and it is admirable to see how Muslims make time for daily prayer and take part in religious services." Read more.
Pope Seeks Brotherhood with Jews

"The foundation of dialogue between Christians and Jews is theological, and it is important that both Catholic and Jewish formation centers pursue mutual understanding." These were the words of Pope Francis to a delegation of the American Jewish Committee. He said, "it is important that our dialogue be always profoundly marked by the awareness of our relationship with God."
May God be glorified as we contend earnestly for the faith once delivered! Let us know how we can serve you.
