Will You Share the Greatest Gift Ever Given?

One of the best times of the year to tell your loved ones, friends and neighbors about God's gift of eternal life is during the season when they are giving and receiving gifts. We are approaching the time of year when many people spend money they don't have to buy gifts people don't need. However, there is one gift that everyone needs but very few know how to receive it. I am referring to the gift of eternal life. It is available only by God's grace because of a love story, written in blood, on a wooden cross, two thousand years ago.
Our most popular Gospel tract explains this wonderful gift of God's love and mercy using only His Word. Only the Word of God has the power to save all who repent and believe (Rom. 1:16, Mark 1:15). Many of our subscribers send this Greatest Gift gospel tract along with their greeting cards to their family and friends. As ambassadors for the Lord Jesus Christ, they have taken this special opportunity to share the greatest news anyone will ever hear. It is an excellent way to sow the imperishable seed of God's Word that can bring forth life (1 Pet. 1:23). Let us never miss an opportunity to proclaim the excellencies of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9). Order tracts here. |

Pope Continues Pressing for Unity of All Faiths
Pope Francis met with members of the Lutheran-Catholic Commission on Unity. Like his predecessors, John Paul II and Benedict XVI, Francis is a Pope of Christian unity. Francis said: "We must try to bring about unity. Today, I spent 40 minutes with an evangelical pastor. And we prayed together, seeking unity."
Timothy George, the dean of Beeson Divinity School wrote a piece entitled, Our Francis, Too: Why we can enthusiastically join arms with the Catholic leader. He wrote: "Catholics and evangelicals are the two largest faith communities in the body of Christ. Without forgetting the deep differences that divide us, now as never before we are called to stand and work together for the cause of Christ in a broken world!" Read more.
Mike's comment: Biblical unity is a sovereign work of the Holy Spirit, not man. This unity occurs with the Holy Spirit baptizes believers, who share a common faith in the Gospel, into the Body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13; John 1:12-13). False unity is a work of man's prideful ambitions and can only be accomplished by suppressing or rejecting doctrinal truth (Genesis 11:1-9).

Pope Prays for the Dead

Pope Francis visited a cemetery in Rome last Friday in observance of the Roman Catholic holiday All Saints' Day to pray for the dead and bless the graves of the departed. He celebrated the blasphemous offering of a Eucharistic Christ during mass and asked the dead saints to pray for those who remain alive.
Mike Gendron was interviewed by the Christian News Network and said, "Prayers for the dead are useless and unbiblical because it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment" (Hebrews 11:27). "In other words, when people die they are immediately transferred to Heaven or Hell." "The determining factor is their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ at the moment of death," he continued. "Was He their merciful Savior who forgave their sins, or a righteous Judge who condemned them to the eternal lake of fire?" Read complete article here. |

Protestants Unite with Catholicism on Baptism

In a monumental decision for ecumenical relations, the U.S. Roman Catholic Church and a group of Protestant denominations have signed a document to formally recognize each other's baptisms. Representatives from the Presbyterian Church, Christian Reformed Church in North America, Reformed Church in America and United Church of Christ met in Austin, Texas, to sign the agreement, which is called the "Common Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Baptism." A Catholic bishop said the effort "is part of our response to Jesus' prayer that 'we all be one." Read more.
Mike's comments: Roman Catholicism declares that water baptism is the sacrament of regeneration and justification. In other words, the water in baptism is said to be efficacious in bringing life to a soul dead in sin and making the person right before God. Catholics believe baptism has made them children of God.
Scripture clearly reveals the error of this Catholic teaching and practice. Children of God are born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:12-13). Regeneration is a sovereign act of God apart from any act of man. Furthermore, justification is by faith, not baptism (Rom. 5:1). Water baptism is only for believers after they have received the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:47). The protestant denominations, which signed this unity accord with Catholics on baptism, need to repent and not be part of this heresy. |

Paul Washer
One of the 21st century's most Gospel-centered preachers is Paul Washer who preached the infamous Shocking Youth Message, a sermon that now has over one million views on YouTube. For ten years he was a missionary in Peru and in that time he founded the HeartCry Missionary Society to support the Peruvian church planters. |

Letters From Around the World
Dear Mike, My husband and I look forward to your broadcast each week, and one of us always reminds the other when a new one is available on your web site. Today as I heard your message, deep gratitude welled up in my heart to the Lord for revealing Himself to both of you. (I could hardly pay attention to what you were saying because of the beautiful light in both of your countenances.) We have never been Catholic, yet we treasure your broadcasts because they deliver such a pure Gospel and they are primarily composed of only Scripture. They are timeless and will be encouragement for us for years to come. May the Lord grant both of you health and strength to continue delivering the unadulterated Word of God. We are so grateful for your ministry. We'd love to meet you someday in person. Thank you, H. & S. E., Raleigh, NC
Mike,
Is it inappropriate for me to put tracts on the windshields of parked cars during a Catholic mass? K.L., Loudon, NH
Dear K.L.,
I think it is appropriate; we do it all the time. It is a good way to get the Gospel into the hands of those who may never hear it. Also, when we see a rosary hanging from a car's rear view window, we will put a tract on the windshield. We often go into Catholic Churches and place tracts in hymnals, on bulletin boards and any place Catholics will find them. The Lord Jesus said, "Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves." Keep sowing the seed of God's Word!
Dear Mike,
There was an evangelization conference for Catholics in Minneapolis last month and I joined some former Catholics to engage Catholics and hand out Gospel tracts. We spoke to a young priest who refuted us with some twisted scriptures to support his false Christ. We went back and forth, but he had a sneering, condescending smile the entire time, cloaked in a false humility. I can not figure out if priests are simply blind and deceived, or if the deception is intentional, and they know the truth, but have sold out to be used by the enemy. My heart breaks for the deception of the people in the RCC. Thanks again for your ministry, and your heart for the lost and your clear defense of the Gospel. Blessings and my continued prayers for you and your family, C.R., Minneapolis, MN
Dear Mike,
My mother in law has always gone to a catholic church and for Thanksgiving she is requesting that our Christian family attend the Catholic mass in remembrance of her husband. What would be the right thing to do in this circumstance? My husband feels compelled to go because it is his Mom. But, I don't want to bring our children because I taught them that Catholicism is not Christianity. I did purchase Proclaiming the Gospel tracts to slip into the hymnals and give to others (lovingly). Thanks for any advice you may have.
In Christ, J. V., West Bend, WI
Dear J. V.,
Anyone saved by the grace of God should avoid going where the Lord Jesus Christ is blasphemed or dishonored. To do so would be equivalent to giving an endorsement or approval of a false religion. While some would say it is important for family unity to attend memorial masses, we must ask the question: Is it more important to seek the approval of God or man (Gal. 1:10)? The very presence of God's people at one of these events sends the message, unintentional as it may be, that what goes on there is acceptable.
Let us never forget that Reformers suffered excruciating pain, torture and death defending the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They rightly saw the Council of Trent's anathema on the biblical Gospel as evidence that this false religion stands opposed to Christ. True followers of Christ should "not yield in subjection to them for even an hour, so that the truth of the gospel would remain" clear and pure for the world to see.
The invitation to attend this event is wonderful opportunity to teach and share the truth of the Gospel. Try asking questions such as: Are you familiar with your church's teachings on the Mass? Would you be interested in knowing what the Word of God says about the Mass? After the discussion you can say: "As much as I love you, I hope you understand that my love for my Savior is far greater. He died to give me life and I desire to please Him in all that I say and do." This will explain the reasons why you cannot attend.

Jason Hauser Seeks Position in Local Church
As much as Jason loves the work Proclaiming the Gospel Ministry does in encouraging discernment and sharing the Gospel, he has sensed a greater love and calling to minister in a local church. In his historical theology classes at The Master's Seminary, he was reminded that many of the great reformers were not only outspoken defenders of the faith, but pastors in local churches. With Mike's blessing, he has begun the candidating process to transition into a full time position in a church. We ask that you pray for Jason and his family during this bittersweet transition. Lord willing, they hope to be back in the Southeast near their family, where they can pour their lives into a local church body.

Muslim Leader Says Pope is a Good Model
Mohamad Bashar Arafat, the president of the Islamic Affairs Council of Maryland, said Pope Francis "acts as all truly religious leaders should: reaching out with respect for the human person and being open to dialogue." Arafat, a Syrian who has lived in America for more than 20 years, compared the Pontiff to Islam's Sufi mystic theologians and poets, "trying to do good for the sake of the Good One, motivated by love and compassion." He said the Pope's love and openness were clear, not only in his choice of being named after St. Francis of Assisi, but particularly in his praying for migrants lost at sea. He added, "St Francis resonates with the Muslim world," particularly because he is credited as the first Catholic leader to dialogue with a Muslim leader in the midst of the Crusades, hoping to bring peace. Retired Catholic Priest Marries Partner
Retired Catholic priest, Tom Pivinski and his partner of over 20 years, Malcolm Navias, celebrated an interfaith wedding at their home in Asbury Park, New Jersey. They wed on the very first day that same-sex marriage was allowed to happen in New Jersey after Governor Chris Christie dropped his appeal to overturn legalization. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Rabbi Kraus, who blessed them as they stood wrapped in a prayer shawl.
