Jesus Responds to the Exaltation of His Mother
by Jason Hauser
Roman Catholicism has made a name for itself as a religion that highly exalts Mary the mother of Jesus. In fact, when most Christians are asked what false teachings they are aware of in Roman Catholicism, the idolatry of Mary is mentioned first. A great number of popes throughout history have made a point to demonstrate that Mary is to be central to their legacy. When John Paul II, was shot, he cried out repeatedly, "Mary save me." On Francis' first day as pope, he visited the Roman basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary and prayed before an icon of the Madonna.

Christians have long shown through the Scriptures that the Catholic exaltation of Mary is not only unbiblical but most of it is heretical as it is an assault on both the trinity and the gospel. Christians who are confident of God's Word and Catholics who are confident in their own traditions regarding this matter are both fully convinced they are right. How incredible would it be if we could hear from Jesus today His very words on whether or not we should exalt His mother Mary?

God's Word is not silent here and we actually do have Jesus' words on this matter in Luke 11:27-28.  In this passage a woman in the crowd raised her voice to Jesus and His disciples and said, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts at which You nursed." It's key to recognize that this woman is both exalting Jesus for who He was and likewise how blessed His mother was for having the privilege of birthing and nursing Him. This would have been the opportunity of opportunities for Jesus to confirm, as Catholics do, that His mother should be exalted. That is, assuming it is true that Mary was conceived and lived without sin, that she was a perpetual virgin, that she was assumed into Heaven, that she intercedes on behalf of us to Christ, that she dispenses grace, that she is a mediatrix between us and Christ, etc. Jesus would have simply needed to respond, "Indeed woman, praise my mother and exalt her highly." Jesus however does just the opposite. Read entire article.
Mother's Day Message of Encouragement
In the world's eyes, if a mother actually stays at home and raises her children, she is simply throwing her life away. This critical worldview of motherhood devalues the God-given role of mothers. Consequently, there are many who wrestle with the significance of their roles as mothers. Their significance can best be realized when they see their biblical role as mothers from God's perspective. The ministry to their children is highly esteemed by God because of the precious souls He has placed under their care and protection. As we celebrate Mother's Day this year, please send this encouraging message by Pastor Jesse Barrington to mothers you would like to bless and encourage. The message includes beautiful pictures of the women and children of Grace Life Church.
A Testimony of God's Grace
Six years ago, we began praying to our Sovereign Lord to bring us a young Christian man with a great love for Christ, who was passionate for the truth and who had a deep compassion for victims of religious deception. Several years passed and there was no answer to our prayers. Then we received a phone call from a seminary student who had providentially just heard one of my messages from a church's website in Dallas. Days later we had a meeting and quickly realized this young man, Jason Hauser, was the answer to our prayers. Jason began serving in our ministry part-time as he continued his seminary classes. When he finished his degree in January from The Master's Seminary, he came on board as a full-time evangelist for Proclaiming the Gospel. As you watch his Senior Testimony, you will see how our gracious God has answered our prayers beyond what we could ask or imagine!
You Can't Find Jesus Outside the Pope's Church
Pope Francis declared on April 23rd "it is not possible to find Jesus outside the Church. The Mother Church that gives us Jesus gives us our identity that is not only a seal, it is a belonging."

Mike 's Response: When we witness to Catholics, we ask if they are a Christian. So often the response is, "No, I am a Catholic." Anyone who knows the dogmas of Rome knows that tt is difficult to find the true, all-sufficient Jesus inside the Catholic Church. That is because Rome has characterized Jesus as merely a gate-opener to heaven instead of a Savior who did everything necessary to save repenting sinners from the complete punishment and power of sin.
Cardinal Dolan Receives Evangelical Award
Cardinal Dolan, president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and one of the original signers of the Manhattan Declaration, received the 2013 William Wilberforce Award from the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, founded by Charles W. Colson.  In his acceptance speech, Dolan said, "thanks be to God, evangelicals and Catholics are together, co-workers in the vineyard, especially in bringing the light of the gospel to a culture often in the dark, on noble issues such as the defense of innocent, vulnerable life; the defense of marriage as revealed by God's word."

Mike's Response: The Reformers were brutally beaten and burned at the stake by Roman Catholics for defending the glorious Gospel of grace. Five hundred years later, evangelicals give an award to a Cardinal whose religion condemns those who believe that Gospel of grace. Would the apostle Paul give an award to the Judaizers who were condemned for preaching another gospel? Evangelicals, such as Timothy George, who embrace Catholicism as a valid expression of Christianity either do not know the exclusivity of the Gospel or the false and fatal gospel of Catholicism. It is no wonder that many evangelicals are confused about Roman Catholicism. They do not know if it represents a huge mission field to be evangelized or a religion of "co-workers in the vineyard" for the light of the gospel. Read more.
Letters from Around the World

You are one of the most anti-catholic bigots I have ever encountered. You obviously don't know as much about Roman Catholic doctrine as you think you do. I have read and listened to some of your anti-catholic work and it is chocked full of errors, outright lies, and misrepresentations on the Catholic faith. For one, the church teaches that a soul is saved by "Grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. That's it, end of story. And yes Mike, Catholics are born again by Baptism, just like Jesus Christ teaches. And yes Mike, one's salvation can be lost, not once saved always saved, that is a false teaching and extremely dangerous teaching that will jeopordize the salvation of anyone believing and teaching that. I could go on and on, but It is probably falling on deaf ears. I know your game. You are preying on the vast majority of catholics that don't know their faith well enough to stave off a" wolf in sheep's clothing", such as yourself. I will pray for you, that you come to an understanding of the truth, get off your anti-catholic "high horse", and stop preaching lies and a false gospel. George, Internet

George,

It is tragic how religious pride and indoctrination can blind people from the light of the Gospel and the glory of Christ. You must not have noticed that you contradicted yourself. In one statement salvation is by "grace through faith" and the next it is by baptism. Are you aware that 7-day old babies cannot have faith in anything? Water baptism is an act of obedience after receiving the Holy Spirit by faith. (Acts 10:47). Are you aware that Catholicism has redefined saving grace? Catholics must merit the graces needed for salvation (Catechism of the Catholic Church para. 2027). How do you merit the unmerited favor of God? Salvation can be lost only if your are trusting a god crafted by religion. The true God of the Bible promises to protect the salvation and inheritance of His people by His power (1 Pet. 1:3-5). If you are one of the lost sheep that Jesus came to save, listen to the voice of the Good Shepherd and follow Him. If you do, He promises that no one can snatch you out of His hand (John 10:27-30). Finally, this issue is not about me. I am just the messenger who is calling you to repent and believe God's Gospel!

Dear Mr. Gendron and Mr. Hauser, Thank you for having the courage and integrity to speak against the compromising stance of Rick Warren regarding the pope. We wholeheartedly appreciate you naming him by name and opposing his folly with boldness. We are not surprised you have already taken flack for making such statements. Be of good cheer, you have done right by God and have blessed the flock. Man pleasers will always be offended at true servants of Christ. The church needs men like you and John MacArthur to speak truth in this critical time. C. B., Middleport, NY

Dear Mike, I recently stumbled upon your website, and I appreciate all that you are doing to teach Catholics the truth about their faith. Like yourself, I have grown up in the Catholic Church; I even studied for the priesthood but while in seminary I was only required to take a few classes on the scriptures. Fortunately, I did not get ordained but I am now employed in the Catholic Church as a pastoral minister. For almost 45 years now I have relied on the Catholic faith to nourish me, but I have found that no matter what I do, I am empty inside. All the years of going to Mass, confession, praying the rosary, receiving communion, has done nothing for me spiritually. After reviewing your website and studying false teachings, I now understand and know why Jesus is Savior. Lately, I find myself with this deep hunger for the word of God and for a relationship with Christ and I understand how the Catholic Church is a false religion. As a Catholic, I feel inadequately prepared to explain the word of God, because we were never encouraged to learn it. God must be working in my life, because I feel that he is leading me away from the false Catholic Church. I have lost all desire to attend Mass and participate in the sacraments. This has to be the work of God in my life. God bless you! Roger G.

A Response to Rome's Attack on Justification
Over the last few weeks, Pope Francis has made frequent allusions to "Satan" and the "Evil One." This may well be part of his effort to cast out the presence of evil and bring back healing and harmony to the Church and to parts of the Vatican. He has been addressing the sin of calumny in religion, which is defined as false and malicious statements, or slander, meant to hurt someone's reputation. The pope said, "Calumny aims to destroy the work of God, and calumny comes from a very evil thing: it is born of hatred. And hate is the work of Satan. Calumny destroys the work of God in people, in their souls. Calumny uses lies to get ahead. Be in no doubt, where there is calumny, there is Satan himself."

It appears commendable of Francis to try to clean house both inside and outside of the Vatican where there is much dissent. However, it is ironic that Francis heads an organization with a long history of calumny against Protestant Christianity. In fact, the reformer John Calvin, in his "Institutes of the Christian Religion", wrote a whole chapter (ch. 16)  to refute the calumnies that were waged by the "papists" against the doctrine of justification.

Jason Hauser gives a response to 4 calumnies by papists that attacked the doctrine of justification. Read the article here.
Pope Determined to Seek Unity of all Faiths
Following are excerpts from the address given by Pope Francis to the fraternal delegates of churches, ecclesial communities and international ecumenical bodies, representatives of the Jewish people and of non-Christian religions, all gathered in Rome for the celebration of the official start of his ministry.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Let us ask the merciful Father to live in fullness that faith that we received as a gift on the day of our baptism. I wish to assure you...of my determination to continue on the path of ecumenical dialogue and I would like to thank in advance the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, for the help that it will continue to offer, in my name, for this noble cause. I...thank you all, dear friends belonging to other religious traditions; first of all the Muslims, who worship the one God, living and merciful, and call upon Him in prayer. I really appreciate your presence: in it I see a tangible sign of the will to grow in mutual esteem and cooperation for the common good of humanity. Read entire message here.

Mike's Response. The new pope is doing everything he can to build ecumenical bridges into all religions and faiths. We wonder how the pope can say Muslims worship the one God when they deny the Trinity and the deity of Jesus Christ.
May God be glorified as we share the light of His Gospel! Let us know how we can serve you.
