University of La Verne
Student/Professional Dinner

October 13, 2015
Sponsored by the Lewis Foundation, University of La Verne and So Cal ASPA invited Ms. Janice Rutherford, San Bernardino County Board of Supervisor.  

With a room full of students from the University's Public Administration program, Ms. Rutherford shared her passion for public service, especially in restoring public confidence in local governments.  She also shared her thoughts on what it means to take initiatives in the public administration arena.  She brought her engaging and personable character to the event, making it an encouraging evening for the students aspired for public administration.  

Ms. Rutherford has been the Second District Supervisor for San Bernardino County since November 2010.  Previously, she served as a council woman for Fontana City Council for 10 years.  She is a board member on a number of organizations, including South Coast Air Quality Management District, San Bernardino Associated Governments, and Inland Empire Economic Partnership. 

Cal State University, Dominguez Hills
Student/Professional Dinner
November 5, 2015
To celebrate its third annual student/professional dinner on campus, California State University Dominguez Hills, in partnership with So Cal ASPA, invited Ms. Stacy Mungo, Long Beach City Councilwoman, and Mr. James Hampton, a sergeant and supervising detective at Los Angeles Police Department.  

Both native to Southern California, Ms. Mungo and Mr. Hampton shared their stories about growing up in Southern California, how their values for hard working opened numerous doors, and emphasized the importance of continuous education.  The evening was filled with entertaining stories that encouraged students on their pursuit for public administration.  

Ms. Mungo is a past President of So Cal ASPA.  She stays very active in her communities at various capacities.  Many of you may recognize her as the master of ceremonies at our 67th Annual Awards and Installation Luncheon last year.
