Register Now for the 67th Annual Awards Luncheon! 

It is the exciting time of the year again!  The Southern California Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration is hosting its Annual Awards and Installation Banquet at the California Endowment in downtown Los Angeles on June 18th. 


 

The chapter is honored to celebrate excellence in public administration with Master of Ceremony, Stacy Mungo, Councilwoman of City of Long Beach.  


We are excited about our award recipients who exemplify ASPA's mission.

Hawkey Residence Student/Professional Networking Mixer
The April 30, 2015 Student-Professional Networking Mixer was hosted by MrPhil Hawkey, a long-time contributor to the So Cal ASPA, a prominent public administrator in Southern California as a city manager for City of Pasadena, who currently serves as Special Assistant to the President on the Senior Management Council at University of La Verne. 
 
 The reception featured the current city managers of City of Pasadena, Mr. Michael Beck and a former city manager of Pasadena, Ms. Cynthia Kurtz, President of San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership.  The Hawkeys generously provided hors d'oeuvres, beverages and the opportunity to mingle and network with two outstanding leaders in San Gabriel Valley.  

During the mixer, both speakers shared their career paths, highlighting challenges and opportunities, and questions they asked at each stage of their career that steered them into the right direction as they advanced.

Cal State University, Fullerton Student-Professional Networking Dinner 

A well-attended public administration student-professional dinner held at Cal State University, Fullerton featured an engaging discussion among esteemed panelists focusing on "Emergency, Disaster, and Crisis Management."   

 

The dinner event was moderated by Ms. Sue Fisher, Emergency Management Coordinator, CSU, Fullerton Police Department, with Ms. Donna Boston, Emergency Management Division Director, Orange County Sheriff's Office, Mr. Devin Leonard, Division Chief Orange County Fire Authority Division 6 - City of Santa Ana, and Ms. Ellen Lopez, Emergency Management Consultant.

 

The discussion focused on technical aspects of managing emergency and crisis, and how regional agencies coordinate on emergency preparedness.  Ms. Fisher facilitated lively discussions with active participation from the audience.
