LSF's Invitation to the United Nations 
As an active Canadian partner for the delivery of Canada's response to the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, LSF has been invited to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, to share our successes in imbedding ESD into education in Canada. What's Worth Knowing: Educating for Responsible Citizenship Symposium
Join Learning for a Sustainable Future for the 2013 What's Worth Knowing: Educating for Responsible Citizenship Symposium on Monday, May 13th, 2013 in Toronto. The Symposium will address the following questions: - What do children and youth need to know, do, and value in order to ensure they are responsible, active, and contributing citizens?; and
- How can formal education be reoriented to meet these goals?
The Symposium will also feature the launch of LSF's newest initiative, the Our Canada Project: A Youth Call to Action for Responsible Citizenship Find out more information and Register for the Symposium today! The Symposium is a followup to the National Roundtables, and Youth Roundtable, on Responsible Citizenship hosted by LSF and Deloitte in the spring and fall of 2012. The final report, "Ready or not? EcoLeague™ Linking Education to Action 
Action Project Funding Apply for Spring Funding to engage your students in an EcoLeague Action Project. Applications are due by March 15th, 2013. Please visit r4r.ca/ecoleague to find out more. Success Story: A Garden Grows at Richmond Rose The Richmond Rose Eco-Team created and sustained a vegetable garden at their school. Success Story: Story of the Salmon
Students at W. D. Ferris Elementary School developed and performed a play called the 'Story of the Salmon' to highlight the connection between Richmond, BC, the Musqueam First Nations people and their traditional fishing and hunting territory, and the salmon migration. Continue reading...

Resources for Rethinking (R4R.ca)
Resources for Rethinking is an online database with approximately 1000 teacher-reviewed, curriculum-matched resources that support sustainability principles and pedagogical approaches. Search the database by grade (K-12), subject, curriculum unit, sustainability theme, and/or language, to find the perfect resource. Resources include lesson plans, activities, and children's literature.

Connecting Educators to Nature Seminar
Connecting Educators to Nature is a two day professional development seminar, hosted in collaboration by Learning for a Sustainable Future and the David Suzuki Foundation. In this experiential-learning program, educators will explore their profound connection to nature and how they can use their school grounds and local communities to enrich and animate their teaching practice. This two day seminar, taking place on April 10th-11th, 2013, will focus on educators working with students in grades four to six in the Toronto area. Register for the session today! |

LSF wants you and your colleagues to experience the power of professional inquiry and collaboration! LSF delivers customized seminars and institutes to teachers and administrators across the country. All of our workshops are designed on the basis of proven PD principles. You will experience a collaborative exchange of ideas that build upon the experience of the participants.
Want to learn about "Connecting the Dots: Key Strategies in Transformative Learning" or "Literacy and Numeracy Go Outdoors"? Get in touch with us and we can build the right ESD workshop to suit your needs. The Water Docs International Film Festival H2Oh! Water: what you don't know will surprise you!

The Water Docs International Film Festival is a documentary film festival on all things water. This event will include feature films, short films, discussions, and guest speakers. The Festival will take place from March 21st- March 24th at Jackman Hall in Toronto's Art Gallery of Ontario.
LSF is co-presenting the films Seeking the Current and Dolime Dilemma:Water Proof? alongside the Ecologos Institute, on March 24th at 4:00PM. Purchase your tickets today!

Visit LSF at the Green Living Show
Make sure to visit LSF at The Green Living Show on Friday, April 12th, 2013, from 10:00AM-4:00PM. You'll find us in the EcoKids Zone, which is jam-packed with fun and exciting green activities and performances for kids of all ages! LSF will be modeling activities featured in our Action Project Recipes. The Green Living Show will be held at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place in Toronto, from April 12th to April 14th. |
Live in Southern Ontario? Join the Passion for E-Recycling Challenge!

Green Living is inviting you to participate in the Passion for E-Recycling School Challenge. The challenge runs from Monday, April 1, to Wednesday, May 15, 2013, and participating schools are asked to collect as much electronic waste as possible! Schools are encouraged to involve their community, and help spread the word about proper e-waste disposal. The winning school will be determined based on the amount of weight of old electronics collected!
