New insulated windows can add to the beauty, comfort and energy efficiency of a home. Did you know that inefficient windows can add 10-25% to heating bills and up to 75% to summer air conditioning bills? Efficient windows can be an expensive long-term investment, so it is wise to first seal all air leaks and insulate your home or business. This will dramatically increase your overall energy savings. ~ Learn More ~

Be a conscientious food shopper and choose "real" foods. Being an educated shopper can seem overwhelming at times, but simply put, buy fresh and non-processed foods. Those are foods typically not in boxes... fresh fruits and veggies, meats, dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds and legumes. Along with processed foods, try to avoid foods with artificial sugars or colors. Knowing the good oils and bad oils is also important: use cold pressed quality olive oils for raw/cold applications and coconut oil and/or ghee for cooking at higher temperatures. Another great tip is to purchase lots of healthy snacks to avoid unhealthy snacking when hunger hits. Start an inter-office challenge to try the 10-day Real Food pledge -- share progress, recipe ideas and see how you all feel after the challenge is over! ~ Learn More ~

Put your lawn on a water diet! Lawns are typically by far the biggest household water users in summer months, and many people pour more water than needed on that patch of bluegrass.
As a rule of thumb, never remove more than one-third the height of your grass in any mowing. By keeping your grass at a longer length it will need less water, since longer grass provides more shade and decreases evaporation. Letting the lawn get a little thirsty is actually good for your turf because it will send its roots down deeper in search of a drink. Finally, fertilizing in the summer isn't necessary, since it will just make your lawn grow faster and want more water. ~ Learn More ~
