Resource Smart Business Program: Work Smarter, Not Harder
Weekly Smart Tips
With a little bit of snow finally falling on Purgatory and temperatures finally dropping, the RSBP wants to make sure that this week's newsletter prepares you for the holiday season.
Energy Efficiency

Did you know that Plasma TVs use significantly more energy than LCDs? Recently, the Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment Initiative (SEAD) ranked TVs on their energy efficiency. Globally, televisions account for 3 to 4% of residential electricity consumption. If all televisions sold were as efficient as the SEAD award-winning models, more than 84 billion kilowatt-hours of energy could be saved worldwide each year by 2020 -- enough to power New York City for nearly a year and a half.

Worksite Wellness

Stressed looking for an appropriate Secret Santa gift or desperate to find a gift on a budget? This year, instead of giving the ordinary, why not give the gift of your services and talents? Skill gifting and trading is an excellent way to not only give a meaningful present, but also build relationships and learn something about your co-workers. Here are some ideas: offer to carpool, babysit or provide a co-worker's child with a safe play area while their parents go out, bring in a healthy dish for lunch, or even better, talk to your co-workers and see what they're interested in.

Overall Sustainability

This weekend is your last chance in 2012 to support your local farmers and eat healthy at the Durango Farmer's Market. Looking for a healthy and local holiday gift or need to bring something unique and delicious to the dinner table?  Don't miss the December Holiday Farmer's Market at the La Plata County Fairgrounds from 10:00am to 2:00pm December 15th.

For more information, visit the Durango Farmer's Market's Facebook page.
