Resource Smart Business Program: Work Smarter, Not Harder
Weekly Smart Tips
Greetings!

Time for the next Resource Smart Business Programs's (RSBP) weekly Smart Tips, your source for quick information to help you stay resource savvy at work, at home, or anywhere in between.

Energy Efficiency

Want to save five to fifteen minutes in the morning when it's freezing this winter?  Modern engines, diesel and petrol, use an electric start that warms the engine twice as fast as idling your vehicle.  It is better for the overall lifespan of your engine to let it warm up by driving, rather than idling.  Stop wasting gas and time, simply start your engine and drive to let your car warm up when it's cold.

Worksite Wellness

Sleep is for dreaming and resting, work is for concentrating and being productive.  We all know sleep and work can be fun, but exclusively not mutually.  If you finish your office work in bed right as you're falling asleep, you will associate work with sleeping.  Associating work and sleep makes you more prone to sleep at work and be restless when you try to sleep at home. Help yourself get all you can out of sleep before you try to get all you can out of work.

Overall Sustainability

It's alway best to turn you lights off when you don't need them.  The argument that the initial surge of turning on a lightbulb consumes so much energy is only legitimate if you were to leave and re-enter a room in .36 seconds.  Otherwise lightbulbs, even traditional, consume substantially less energy when turned off after you leave a room.  Check out this neat
link for an explanation.
