HAZAEL ALBERT, passed away Friday May 3, 2013, she graduated from the old Jeffersontown High School. He founded the Albert Oil Company in the early 1960's and was a volunteer for the Jeffersontown Fire Department. He is survived by his sons Barry (Sondra), Terry, Dennis (Connie), and daughters Sheryl LaMaster (Jim), Karen Mason (Don), Susan Kaelin (Allen), Cindy Barnes (Don), and Donna Weber (Kim).
BOBBY ALLGEIER, class of 1977, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 1, 2013. He is survived by Beth Armstrong Allgeier, class of 1978.
BETTIE LEE CARTER, class of 1945, died on January 17, 2013. She played trombone in the school band and continued her interest in music by singing in the WGRC Chorus and church choirs. She was the wife of Floyd C. Carter and mother to Dianne Rogalinski (David), Bruce (Linda), Carol Buckingham (Dennis),and Doug (Martha).
PHYLLIS TANDY COOKSEY passed away on July 31, 2012 after a short struggle with cancer. After graduation from Georgetown College in 1966, she became a part of the first music department for the new Jeffersontown High School in 1967. In 1973 she continued her career at Myers Middle School. She is survived by Adrian Cooksey.
DAVID ERNSPIKER, class of 1974, passed away March 24, 2013. He is survived by his wife, CeeAnne; daughters Brandi and Summer, and siblings: Butch, class of 1973; Vicki Quire, class of 1975; Joe, class of 1975; Gary, class of 1976; Tony, class of 1977; and Renee, class of 1978.
CONNIE GUTHRIE, class of 1947, died on October 14, 2012 of complications of a stroke. She graduated from the old Jeffersontown High School in 1947. She taught science in public and private schools in Jefferson County. She is preceded in death by her husband, Blaine Allen Guthrie, Jr., and daughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by her sister, Kathryn Elizabeth Guthrie, and sons Blaine Alan Guthrie, III and Bruce Gamble Guthrie.
LIEUTENANT COLONEL JERRY HENSON died on Aug. 14, 2012 after bravely battling cancer. He retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1987 and became the Senior Military Instructor at Jeffersontown High School. During his tenure, his cadets won many competitions including three national titles. He retired in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Sue, and sons, David and Daniel.
CLIFFORD HOPKINS, class of 1973, passed away on May 4, 2013. As a member of the class of 1973, Clifford won the state championship for Heavyweight Wrestling twice. He was a proud Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps and co-owner of Royal Muffler Shop. He is survived by his mother, Bernice Hopkins, and sister, Claudia Crawford.
ALBERT "JOE" KUTE, class of 1970, passed away on February 2, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. He was the owner/partner in Kute's Liquors in J'town. He is survived by his wife, Ann, and his daughter, Dr. Karen Kute, class of 1989.
CRAIG LOWRY, class of 1989, died on November 2, 2012. He was an active student at Jeffersontown High School participating in the Student Council, FBLA, and the football team. He was a senior application developer for Bank of America. He is survived by his wife, Karen, and daughter, Marissa.
SHAWN POWERS, class of 1983, passed away on June 10, 2013. As a J'town student, Shawn was on the tennis and wrestling teams and participated in the Beta Club and drama productions. Shawn was a general manager for the O'Mallys Corner Group. He is survived by his mother, Betty Carpenter; father, Russ Powers; and sister, Shannon Powers Railey, class of 1987.
HAL SAMPSON, J'town teacher from 1987 to 1996, had a career covering 30 years of teaching science and physical education, coaching football and track. He was an avid collector of cowboy and Western memorabilia. He rode horses all of his life, even competing on the rodeo circuit.
JOHN SEWELL, class of 1986, passed away on November 22, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ann and Joseph Sewell and survived by his sisters Jenny, class of 1991, and Patty Voss, class of 1987.
ROBERT ALAN YOUNG, class of 1970, passed away on March 18, 2013 in Kingwood, Texas. During high school, he played football, basketball, and ran track. He worked for Shell Oil Company, Apache Oil Company, and the US Treasury. He is survived by his wife, Gaye Moser Young, class of 1971, and his children Kathy and Wesley Young.
