JHS Marching Chargers Reunion - April 2012
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
JHS Marching Chargers Reunion
 JHS Marching Chargers Reunion Decorations
On April 28th, 2012 roughly 100 alumni of the Jeffersontown High School Marching Chargers from 1966-1995 seasons gathered for a reunion in the beer garden of T.K.'s Pub in the Spanish Cove Shopping Center on Bardstown Rd.  Also in attendance were  our very special guests, JHS Hall of Fame inductee Lamar "Rich" Richardson, our beloved band director for the years 1966-79 / 1983-95 & his wife Judi Richardson.  Everyone got to speak with Rich & Judi.
Rhonda Hellinger  Mike Smither - Tina MattinglyWow, what a wonderful evening, the decorations of a tabletop football field with little Marching Chargers, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Crates of Oranges & table decorations, were thanks to Paula Meeller '77 & Marilyn Proctor Newman '77.  The uniforms, trophies, photo albums, videos & other memorabilia were thanks to Judi Richardson, Myra Boblitt Fugate,  Sharon Derby Wesley, Karen Maddox Speer & a few others I unfortunately cannot
name.
We had members from nearly every graduating class; numerous of smiling faces, lots of hugs, all telling stories of band camp, trips, contests, practices, plus stage band, orchestra & pep bands.  Laughter was heard through out the night with memories of Murfreesboro, Canada, Hawaii, School musicals like   South Pacific, playing for the Louisville Colonels ABA basketball  games  & many more.
Cathy & Marvin Mattingly brought a memories book for all to write in for Rich, talking about how the band or music was still in their lives & their favorite memories.  The night went on for hours; everyone had  a  wonderful time, many wondering when we are going to do this again.  We
even had a tremendous show put on by Mother Nature; as it brought a thunderstorm with rain, lightening & hail.
We would also like to give a very special thank you to Todd King of T.K.'s Pub for the use of the room for our event & the food they donated.  Consider having your  event with him as well.
Thanks also go out to:
Laura Flaherty Schulte for her organizational skills, working on the contact lists & collaborating with the others.
Cathy & Marvin Mattingly, Jan Mullinix & all the others that... worked on choosing the venue & plus thanks to Jan & TK's for donating the food.
Shane Russell & Todd Westphal for spearheading contacting the 1980's & 1990's members.
There are others that joined us for numerous planning meetings & contacted people, that I am overlooking, I'm sorry, but thank you for your support.
