Mike is well-known in his field and has published over 50 journal articles in the areas of financial literacy, earnings management, and audit education. He serves on various boards of directors, is a frequent guest lecturer, and has won numerous teaching awards. In addition, Mike has volunteered on financial committees at several local churches and continues to be involved in basketball through coaching church youth.
Karen Ballard - Class of 1987
Karen displayed an early interest and aptitude for photography during her senior year in high school as JHS yearbook photographer. Since that time, Karen has become a widely recognized and respected photojournalist and unit photography editor for major motion pictures and news magazines. Her photos have appeared in Time, Newsweek, and The Sunday New York Times Magazine; and she has worked with industry icons such as Steven Spielberg and Sylvester Stallone. Karen was honored to be selected as one of the photographers for the 2009 publication, Barack O'Bama: The Official Inaugural Years.
Dr. Mike Biddle - Class of 1974

In high school, Kathie was a member of both the concert choir and the girls'chorus where she was known for her glorious voice. Her beautiful voice helped earn her the crown of Miss JHS in 1972! Today, Kathie lends her voice to her service in Christian ministry and as a writer of children's Christian musicals. She has been nominated nine times for awards by the Gospel Music Association and won the prestigious Dove Award for her musical, "Wise Guys and Starry Skies." Through her organization, Kathie Hill Music, Kathie produces Christian teaching resources and is often a featured guest speaker at conferences.
Dwight Robinson - Class of 1979
From his years at JHS as senior class president and a four-sport letterman to his career in a senior level financial position, Dwight has always demonstrated leadership ability. Currently, Dwight serves as Chief Financial Officer for Kindred Healthcare where he is responsible for the financial operations of numerous hospitals and therapy clinics within four states. He is also the recipient of a YMCA Black Achiever Award. Dwight supports a variety of community causes through his work with church, Jefferson County Public Schools, and the University of Louisville.
Lamar Richardson - Faculty Member
Mr. Richardson, or "Rich" as he is fondly known, has spent his entire career teaching music and providing area students with opportunities to participate in marching band and concert competitions. As an original JHS faculty member starting in 1966, he served as band director until 1979; and then returned again from 1983-1995. Mr. Richardson has also been a member of the Derby Festival Parade Committee and has served as an adjudicator for many Kentucky marching band competitions.
