Many will never know the kind of life that God designed for them. This will happen not because they defy God and walk away from him but because they are just too fatigued and preoccupied to follow him. They would never directly say no to God, but they won't say no to the things that get in the way of God. The disciplines of abstinence work like a filter removing the clutter of our life and teach us to say no.
