NEWSLETTER - October 21, 2014

At last Autumn seems to have arrived to stay, even though we weren't here to observe the brilliant foliage that is New England's gift. We've just returned from a successful buying trip in England and a wonderful week of 70 to 80 degree temperatures as we vacationed in Florence.

Our shipment of furniture and smalls has arrived, and we've begun to prepare the shop for our Fall Opening on November 8 & 9. We have bought very well at home and abroad, so this opening should live up to the expectations of our faithful followers.

In this month's newsletter, you'll find news about our trip and our Fall Opening, a report on the cancellation of October's Rhinebeck show, as well as the usual features. We hope you'll spend a little time with us.

Climbing Brunelleschi's dome

Our recent trip to Europe began with a week in Florence, celebrating an important anniversary. It wasn't our first visit, but it was our longest and most well-planned. We spent days in museums and restaurants and walked miles through narrow Tuscan streets. But one of the most spectacular activities was a climb to the top of the Duomo, Brunalleschi's miraculous crown which has become for many the icon of Florence. Click the picture if you'd like to see the view inside and outside of this extraordinary monument.

The Rhinebeck Saga continues

Since mid-September, when Bruce Garrett announced that the Fall 2014 edition of Rhinebeck was cancelled, there has been a good deal of speculation about the show's future. As long-time exhibitors at Rhinebeck, this future is of great concern to us, as we're sure it is to many of our customers. For pertinent facts and our perhaps impertinent opinions, click the show card above.

October 2014

When we left Rome for our flight back to London, the skies were overcast and, although I had a window seat, I entertained little hope of snapping a good in-flight photo for this newsletter. But the day had a surprise in store. Click here to see what it was.

That's it for this month. Thanks for being a subscriber.

Perhaps we'll see you at our opening.
