Pearl Home: Tip of the Month

Are you thinking about all the rain we have had lately?  You can make that rain work for you.  Rain barrels are a great way to reduce the stormwater running off your property and make that water available for your landscape plants when there is not so much rain.

Two barrels are available from LRNow at our Brock Center Office.  All rain barrels are constructed by  Rain Water Solutions in North Carolina.  They have all the fittings you will need, mosquito netting, large overflow valves and are ready to put under your downspout.

IVY -- 50 gallons -- $95
green color available

MOBY -- 65 gallons -- $175
black color available

To order, call us at 757-962-5398 or stop by our office at the Brock Environmental Center any weekday between 9:00 and 5:00.

LRNow Education Programs Receive Two Awards

The LRNow Education programs were honored this spring with two awards:  A City Wide Partners in Education Award from the Virginia Beach City Public Schools and an It Takes a Village Award from the Virginia Beach Education Association.  Congratulations to Jody Ullmann, LRNow's Pearl School Coordinator, to all of the talented and dedicated volunteers who make the many education programs we provide each year possible, and to Dollar Tree for supporting our educational programs.  Great work!!

78 Pearl Schools in 2015-2016

The school year is coming to a close and we are proud and excited to announce that we have 78 Pearl Schools in Virginia Beach this year.

To earn the award, schools must submit an application outlining the environmental education projects and programs that they offered during the previous year.  Schools receive points for the many and varying programs.  If they reach the required point levels, they receive the award and a banner to display proudly in their school.
