Pearl Home Tip of the Month:
Spring Cleaning Tips
Are you cleaning out your closets or the garage this spring? Remember these helpful tips.
1. REUSE -- All used household items, furniture, toys, and clothing in good condition can be donated to one of many thrift stores in our area. Not only does this keep useful items out of the landfill, but it gives these items a second life and helps others.
2. RECYCLE -- Recycle paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, drink and food cans, and glass bottles in your blue curbside recycle cart or recycle drop off location.
3. DISPOSE PROPERLY --
Properly dispose of old paint, automotive fluids, fertilizers, cleaners, and other household hazardous waste by taking them to the Landfill and Resource Recovery Center on Jake Sears Road.
4. REFUSE -- And best, choose wisely when shopping to avoid waste altogether.

Landscape for Life! Starts March 29th
A few spaces remain. Sign up today.
Every home landscape has the potential to help clean our water and our air, reduce flooding, cool our city, and combat climate change.
Yet conventional gardening practices too often work against nature, damaging our environment's ability to provide these natural benefits that support the health and well-being of you, your family, and your community.
Landscape for Life will show you how to work with nature, no matter where you live whether you garden on a suburban lot, a 20-acres farm, or the common area of your condominium.
The course begins on March 29th and will meet every Tuesday evening through April 26th, 6-8 PM, at the Brock Environmental Center. The cost is $75 per person or $100 per household (2 people) and includes all instructional materials and snacks. To register, contact Dana@LRNow.org. |

We received questions about the PVC pipes in Long Creek by Inlet Fitness Gym, so we checked into it.
The pipes are for a dredging project going on right now to prepare the creek for the summer influx of boats. I am happy to say they are temporary. Laila Reef constructed by LRNow in Long Creek.
