River Cleanup
Saturday, March 8, 9- Noon

Come out to our next river cleanup Saturday, March 8th and join in the fun and feel good about contributing to a cleaner river.  We will be cleaning up the area behind the Francis Land House, 3131 Virginia Beach Boulevard.  This will be a land based cleanup only -- no kayaks or canoes.  For more information or to register contact [email protected].

Thank you to the hardy group who came out last Saturday to cleanup the wooded lot at Potters Road and Lynnhaven Parkway. Thirty volunteers collected 40 bags of trash, a hot water heater, 4 tires, and a manikin among other items.  All from one area of the river on one morning.  Unfortunately, there is never a shortage of trash!

Cleanups will be held the second Saturday of each month throughout 2014.  Mark your calendar now to help out.  If you are aware of an area of the river that needs a cleanup, please let us know.  Also, if your business would like to be a sponsor of one of our cleanups, please contact us.

Rain Barrel A rain barrel is an easy way to reduce storm water runoff from your property and make the water available for irrigating your garden.  In this workshop, you will be constructing a rain barrel that you can take home with you.  We have a very limited supply of the gray barrels remaining and this could be our last rain barrel workshop.
Cost is $60 and includes all materials and instructions needed to assemble your barrels.  To register, contact [email protected] or call 757-962-5398.
