LRNow joins Murphy's Irish Pub for their infamous Pub Trivia.  Gather a team of friends, co-workers, or complete stangers to take on other Murphy's Quizzers.  LRNow will have a river display and opportunities for you to win cool swag (think coozies).  Call 757-417-7701 to reserve a table, or make sure to arrive early.

Taylor Float Do you have a Taylor Float that you are no longer using?  Turn it in to LRNow and we will rehab it and give it to our teachers and students who are growing oysters for the Lynnhaven.

Winter Wildlife Festival
Saturday, 10 AM - 4 PM
Princess Anne Recreation Center

Registration for many of the excursions is closed, but there will be displays and talks from 10 AM - 4 PM at the Princess Anne Recreation Center on Saturday.  Advanced registration is not required for these.  LRNow will be doing a presentation on oyster restoration at 10:30 Saturday at PA Rec Center. 
Explore winter bird and plant life at Pleasure House Point in two walks sponsored by LRNow.  The morning walk is 8 AM-11:30 AM and the afternoon walk is 1 PM-4:30 PM.
This is your chance to learn about and view winter wildlife all around Virginia Beach; whether it is following fascinating bird activity, exploring the natural areas of our community or the musings of harbor seals near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.  There is something for everyone.

VCN Conservation Lobby Day
Monday, Jan. 27, 8:30-2:00

Our state delegates and senators gathered in Richmond early this month for the 2014 legislative session.  The Virginia Conservation Network urges you to talk to your representatives about the conservation issues, like clean water, that are important to you.  People with an interest in conservation from all around the state will be gathering in Richmond on Monday, January 27th.  We will be carpooling from Virginia Beach if you would like to ride with us.  For more information to the the VCN website.  To arrange to carpool from our office, contact Karen@LRNow.org.
 
River Cleanup

Cleanups will be held the second Saturday of each month throughout 2014.  Mark your calendar now to help out.  If you are aware of an area of the river that needs a cleanup, please let us know.  Also, if your business would like to be a sponsor of one of our cleanups, please contact us. 

Come out to our next river cleanup Saturday, Feb. 8th and join in the fun and feel good about contributing to a cleaner river.  We will be cleaning up the forested lot bordering London Bridge Creek at Potters Road and Lynnhaven Parkway.  This will be a land based cleanup only -- no kayaks or canoes.  For more information contact Trista@LRNow.org.
