Stewardship Awards
April 1 - July 1, 2013

Have you made any environmentally

friendly improvements to your home,

business or community facility?

If so, please let us know and

encourage others by submitting an

application for a Virginia Beach

Stewardship Award.  For more in-

formation or an application form, pleasego to the city's website at

vbgov.com/esi.

The Virginia Beach Stewardship Awards program began in 2009, with the first awards being presented by Mayor Sessoms at the 2010 Earth Day celebration. The success of the program has led to its expansion and now it comprises more diverse applicants and projects. Outdoor projects eligible for awards can include installing a buffer, where lawn areas are replaced with landscaped beds, or replacing impervious areas with permeable pavers, mulch paths or stepping stones. Installing an edible garden, butterfly garden, or even creating wetlands or oyster reefs also could be nominated.

Earth Day River Cleanups

Sunday, April 28th

This month we are partnering with the Tidewater Kayak Anglers Association and Terrapin Restaurant for a joint cleanup and after-party!

LRNow will have a land-based cleanup @ Beach Garden Park (Holly Road and Kilbourne Place) starting at 9am and TKAA will host a water-based cleanup launching from Crab Creek at 8am. The Terrapin Restaurant crew will be out cleaning with us and then will host all cleanup participants for a celebratory Oyster Roast and BBQ afterwards. Anyone with a saltwater fishing license is also welcome to go out fishing with TKAA afterwards.

Please email Office@LRNow.org or call 962-5398 with questions or to register. Please pre-register so we have an idea for lunch numbers and so we know if you'll be helping on land or water.
