INTRODUCTION
Summer is nearing an end, but there's still time to enjoy the last few dog days of summer.  Ever wonder what it might be like to bring the luxury of resort style vacationing to your own backyard? We just might have the recipe for you!  Also, Fall Bulbs will be ready for planting soon. See some ideas below and the color spring might hold for you!

 "The Official Summer Pool Drink"
We've got the Recipe For You!
 
This delightful beverage is making the rounds on the internet.  It comes in both an adult and family friendly version so everyone can enjoy it.

(1) 46oz can of pineapple juice
(1) Cup of Country Time Lemonade mix
(2) Cups of Water
(2) Cans of Sprite
*Pineapple Coconut Rum

Mix the first four ingredients thoroughly.  Fill a glass with ice. Add rum if desired.  Top off with the mix.  Enjoy!!

*You can use just coconut rum or Vodka in many of it's flavored varieties that will complement the citrus flavor of this drink.

FALL BULBS
Now is the time to start considering where to put that splash of color for next spring.

Scilla

 

Tulips and daffodils are planted in the late summer and early fall so they are ready to burst our in full bloom in a whole palette of colors.  But there is more available than just tulips and daffodils.

 

Scilla is a beautiful, low-growing blue

fritillaria
Fritillaria

flower that naturalizes over time.  Every garden could use some blue and this is a great way to introduce it into yours.  Fritillaria are tall plants with nodding bell shaped flowers of red, orange and yellow.

Allium

Allium is another great fall bulb.  It comes in a variety of heights, colors, and flower types.  One of the showiest is the giant allium with its softball sized head of beautiful purple flowers.

Tips

Start thinking about your fall color needs. Mums, asters, and other fall ornamental plants will be available soon.

 

August is the best time to have your lawn core aerated and over-seeded for a better lawn next spring.

 

Japanese beetles are out and feeding.  Look for them on roses, Hibiscus and other garden plants.
