A Trio You Won't Want to Miss
| Some of the best gems take some searching |
In the center of this picture you can see three sweet trees nestled in our F Block in Newtown. Though not common on the menu of ' Look at My Yard' specimens, they do hold their own as focal points, accents and supporting cast members. Take a look at this trio and you may find they deserve to be on your list of go-to specimens, even though pseudocamellia, griseum and palmatum are not their second names.
Left: Chinonanthus retusus 'Tokyo Tower' (Chinese Fringe Tree) is a useful specimen tree for it's smaller stature, awesome bark and abundance of white flowers from May to June. Read On...

News from Watertown
Here are some newly potted Japanese Forest Grass. The darker ones in front are the straight species (Hakonechloa macra) and they're backed by the H. 'All Gold'. We potted these 2 weeks ago so you will see these ready to go towards the end of June. A great grass that prefers some shade that even has respectable fall color!

It's one of those plants that gets forgotten after they bloom, but hold their place in any garden the whole growing season. They're a long-lived shrub-like perennial that grow 3-4' tall and as wide over time, each spring leafing out with blue-green clover-like foliage and sending up beautiful blue, pea-like flower spikes in May. Black seed pods develop later in the season that rattle in the wind and give some late fall interest and are useful in dry flower arrangements. Read on...
