direct sun and rain after a long, cold winter.
Fastigiate Trees Make for Some Tall Orders!
Green Pillar Oaks
Green Pillar Oaks

This week we had some beautiful, large columnar varieties of Sweetgum, Serviceberry and Flowering Cherry come off the trucks along with the Green Pillar Oaks seen here. Their narrow shapes are what you need for height along walkways and driveways as well as windbreaks and screening. They also make interesting focal points and accents when most all other plant material generally has a rounded form.

Take a look at these four selections and keep them in mind for your upcoming jobs...        Read on

A healthy lawn enhances any landscape!

While some of us can't see the lawn for the snow, others are lucky to have it finally gone. Either way we know what's coming - crabgrass! In southern Connecticut the seed typically germinates around the middle of the last week of April, especially at sites that get a good amount of sun. The areas along the edges of asphalt curbing, walkways, driveways, patios, Belgian block etc. absorb a great deal of heat, warming the adjacent soil. Soil temperatures need to be a consistent 55ºF day and night for about 4-5 days for crabgrass germination.

Products like these will get your lawns off to a good crabgrass-free start...   Read On
