Here's to Starting Our 45th Year!
While it's great to have a winter break, sending out the Weekly Picks again means that the temperatures are rising and the sales yards are filling up! Wahoo!!! After looking at nothing but blankets of white since January, we're ready to look at anything that is photosynthesizing. The trucks are bringing in loads of beautiful deciduous material keeping the two yard crews busy unloading, spacing and dealing with what goes where. In the greenhouse Dan and his crew have been busy all winter germinating seeds and sticking cuttings to fulfill the perpetual needs of your customers. Read on

Planters' Choice 2015 Wholesale Price and Reference Guide is Ready!
Our cover picture for 2015 is the fall blooming Blue Mist Shrub ( Caryopteris x clandonensis) 'Longwood Blue'. Ours are grown right here in Newtown along with two others - 'Dark Knight' and 'Worcester Gold'. It's a shrub that should be used more often in mass or as a hedge. It was selected by Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania for its upright habit, long bloom time and awesome silvery green foliage. They've used them effectively for lining a narrow allee backed by standard PeeGee Hydrangeas. It's as simple as it is beautiful. Read on

| Let the potting begin! Over in the Propagation House Peter, Dan and their crew are a well-oiled machine when it comes to transferring liners into containers. From keeping the hopper filled with potting mix to moving them from the conveyor belt to their temporary spot in the greenhouse they can pot up about 1,200 per hour - like greased lightning! |
