Spread a Little Sunshine
|
 |
Veronica repens 'Sunshine' (Speedwell) - is an interesting groundcover with a light blue flower late spring. Use in rock gardens or to soften flagstone patios. Somewhat tolerant of foot traffic, it's hardy to Zone 4 and deer resistant. Not, however completely drought tolerant - on hot summer days it will need some moisture.

Customer Spotlight
Company Name: ECOSCAPES, Seymour
Objective: Create a Butterfly Garden at St. Rose School in Newtown as the first stage of their Outdoor Learning Center. We did the install early in the season, together with the solar canopy classroom and playgrounds so it would be ready for September's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. A sensory garden will be added in the future. |
This Wildflower Seed Mix was put down this spring!
| Plants Used: Butterfly Wildflower Seed Mix, various perennials (Cone Flower, Milkweed, Bee Balm, etc), Ornamental Grasses (Northern Sea Oats, Little Bluestem) and small trees and shrubs (Little King River Birch, and Lilacs). Customer Comments: The garden is going to be the place for children to learn about nature starting, of course, with butterflies! Nice job! Kudos, Rick! We love seeing how our plants are used in your landscapes - send over some pics anytime by simply responding to this email or to info@planterschoice.com Subject line: Customer Spotlight!

Plants to Know Picea pungens 'Bizon Blue'
There's not much to rival the vivid color of the bluest Colorado Spruces, so they're usually awarded a special place in the landscape being put to work as specimens and accents since they're great at begging for attention. Here we see some P. pungens 'Bizon Blue'. They'll slowly grow to about 35' in a conical shape. The needles will maintain their blue color throughout the year. Plant them in full sun in a place with excellent drainage and they'll be happy for years to come. Use as stand alone specimens or combine with other contrasting Conifers and Ornamental Grasses for added interest.
