 | Craving some red? Pick up some old fashioned Geraniums! |
Annuals have arrived in Newtown!
Fresh in this week is a nice supply of colorful bedding and container plants to start off your spring containers and add some spark to your beds! Too many to mention here but besides the red beacons seen above look for other colors to choose from in the form of Marigolds, Potato Vine, Begonias, New Guinea Impatiens, Calla Lilies plus trailing vines, upright spikes and much more.
Tip - Combine annuals with perennials, grasses or dwarf evergreens to extend the container season.

Japanese Maples
So many to choose from!
Both sales yards have an expansive selection of Japanese Maples - from the beautiful Tamukeyama lace leaf, to the graceful Bloodgoods. The sizes we carry range from 5 gallon containers to the larger specimen sizes that are either boxed or b&b. Japanese Maples have always contributed to adding beautiful accent pieces to landscapes and with the variety we carry, there are always unique pieces that can be found. Choose from the previously mentioned Tamukeyama and Bloodgoods to the Lions Head, Emperor 1, Red Dragon, Orangeola, Coral Bark (Sango Kaku), Viridis and Green Hornet to name a few. Stop by soon to give your customers a whole season of a good thing! |
Mark's Turf Tips:
Outstanding Results in a Pre- and Post- Emergent
 |
19-0-6 with Confront & Dimension
|
Lebanon's Proscape 19-0-6 with Confront & Dimension is a very useful fertilizer with herbicides to use right now. The label states:
"Newly Seeded Areas: When establishing a new lawn of Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass and/or Tall Fescue, this product may be applied 2 weeks after the first sign of grass germination."
It is not often that a product comes along that provides truly outstanding results in difficult situations. Lebanons 19-0-6 Confront plus Dimension is one of those products. It provides exceptional control of crabgrass as a pre and EARLY post emergence and controls broad leaf weeds like dandelions and clover in mature and very young lawns and seedings. The fact that this product can be applied two weeks after germination allows you to control weeds before they become a problem helping to provide rapid establishment of a new lawn and excellent maintenance of established lawn.
Remember to read, understand and follow the complete label of all pesticide products before use.

Plants to Know Rhododendron 'Landmark' & 'Silvery Pink'
 |
Don't forget these small-leaf Rhodies!
|
We have an outstanding selection of our home-grown small-leaf Rhododendron in bloom right now. Some of our favorite of the PJM type are 'Landmark' and 'Silvery Pink'. Their bloom colors speak for themselves but Landmark blooms heavily from a young age and its fall color is a showy bronze mahogany that lasts all winter. Silvery Pink is an obviously softer color than most PJM hybrids and that's useful if your concern is the great spring clash in the form of forsythi-tuli-crabap-magnol-itis! It also blooms a little bit later than the others in the landscape and therefore may have a better chance of avoiding late freezes.
Stop in and see for yourself - ask your salesperson about their favorite!
