Spruce up on your Norwegian
 | Picea abies 'Lanham's Beehive' |
Picea abies has a variety for almost any location. From Norway Spruce Species for screening purposes, to our smallest dwarf variety there's something for everyone.
- Picea abies - We can't say enough about the Norway Spruce, always a great choice when you're looking to screen something out. They don't just add year round green, but they can become an even stronger focal point during the Holidays. Be sure to check out our new and IMPROVED 2014 Catalog pricing!
- Picea abies 'Cupressina' - A great choice when working with a narrow space. Ideal for next to commercial buildings and residential homes! Fantastic vertical accent piece.
- Picea abies 'Clanbrassiliana Stricta' - A perfectly miniature version of the species Picea abies. A very slow growing cultivar works well as an accent plant, or as an individual specimen. Looking to border a patio? Can always be used in lieu of Boxwood.
- Picea abies 'Pendula' - A great specimen tree! Upright habit with weeping branches. Weeping trees, draw attention back down to the ground, so this would be ideal in a bed to accompany low lying conifers and grasses.
- Picea abies 'Nidiformis' - We also carry a number of different bird's nest type that are great, low-growing evergreen shrubs making them a great choice as accents for foundation plantings, perennial and rock gardens not to mention conifer gardens!
- Picea abies 'Lanham'a Beehive' - Another dwarf variety with thicker, longer needles and cinnamon colored stems. It will grow 3' in ten years - the perfect size for your smaller garden when you need an evergreen!

Mother's Day is here...
How about a flowering tree?
 |
Magnolia x 'Daybreak' |
All mother's deserve some flowers this Sunday - whether in vases, baskets or as a corsage...but personally, we prefer giving a statement that will last decades... like flowering trees! There are currently many to choose from like our very affordable 15 gallon Weeping Cherries to some large, instantly gratifying 5" Kousa Dogwoods! But here's another tree to consider: Daybreak Magnolia! I was out taking some pics when Ed said 'You gotta go see this Magnolia!" and steered me over to the 'G' Block in the Newtown Sales Yard. Not sure exactly how to describe it but its not your run of the mill Magnolia like the lighter pinks of the Saucer Magnolias in the background. This award-winning hybrid (Pennsylvania Hort. Society Gold Medal 2004) is a columnar upright form with large, very fragrant, rosy pink blooms that will make people stop in their tracks. It's just the tree to say "Love you Mom"!
Stop by soon and see them for yourselves but hurry - quantities are limited! You may also want to consider the Yellow Magnolias - all blooming right now!
