May the blessings of this Easter Season Linger with you always!

April showers will bring May flowers, just as this April Newsletter that reflects on mostly non coffee matters, will yield a May Newsletter filled with coffee news and more!   Thank you for spending time with us each month and may you have a blessed April, filled with the spirit of Easter.

  Coffee and Me...

Last year, in the April Newsletter, I announced the formation of The Southern Alpaca Connection, LLC.  Well, since that time we have built a home for the company, and now after a year, we are announcing the opening and the GRAND opening times!  Our new storefront will open on May 2nd, during Lavonia, Georgia's Spring Festival, then will have a five day GRAND OPENING from May 6-9, 2015.
It is our hope that this will be a time when friends, family, and soon to be friends, will gather to celebrate all things alpaca...including The Alpaca Bean Coffee!  We are excited to be a part of this adventure and hope that our section of the store will be a natural place for conversation, exploration of coffee devices, and a sharing of good tastes in our coffee nook.
If you are in the neighborhood, we hope you will drop by as well!!!

We are looking for a special person to fill an important position, and we will look until we find just the right person!  We have extended the search period until April 10th and ask that you, our newsletter family, help us in this search.  We want someone that will make people want to come to our store again and again.  We will have many exciting events, training and otherwise, but we know it is the people to people skills that will make this happen.  So, if you know of anyone that fits the bill, encourage them to apply.  We have some very good applicants already, but when we start interviewing we want it to be a challenge for us to find the successful candidate.

Thank you,

The Coffeeman

On A Personal Note...

Tax time...tax time, yep it is tax time again.  I am gettin' computer headaches and backaches, and well aches where you sit...if you know what I mean.  Thank the Lord that he created a plant we know today as coffee...and thank the Lord for creating goats, for without them we may never have known the effect caffeine has on our bods.

Caffeine and coffee are wild and wonderful things, unless you do a bit of overload.  Tax time brings the temptation on to keep that pot perking and that mug filled with the brain jarring liquid known as coffee.  However, I am here to tell you not to do that cause you never know when the ol' ticker might get overly excited and decide to go on a rampage of sorts.

Believe me I know about rampaging tickers!  But thank goodness caffeine has not been ruled the culprit...at least not by my cardiologist!  Moderation is the key, but each of us has to decide what moderation means for ourselves.  Recent studies suggest that the more coffee the merrier...if your body can adapt to the stimulant found in this special brew.

But back to taxes...like it or not taxes pay for the things we want from our governments, whether it be local, state, or national.  It only gets troublesome when our taxes are used for something we do not want, you know.  It is kinda like when you are a tike and have a few coins in your pocket that you intend to use on that special double dip ice cream cone, especially on a hot July day!  Then your friend shows up and, well he or she does not have the same good fortune as you do.  He or she would simply have to watch you enjoy the pleasure of the treat while wishing for a lick or two, don't you know.

You could wait until she or he heads home...or maybe if they are a GOOD friend you could scale back your dream to a single scoop cone and then buy her or him a cone of their own.  But that would be taking your wealth away and you know, it is your wealth even if Mom or Dad did all the work to earn it.  Taxes, friends, good and bad times, you know these things make for hard decisions in life.  But like Jude's Dad once said to me, "Somebody has to pay for our freedom, somebody has to sacrifice for our country to be special, and unlike any other place on earth.  Somebody has to pay taxes, somebody has to step up!"

Our country is special...but if we are not careful we will give away our specialness...we will forget what made this beautiful country so special.  We will simply look for reasons to be dissatisfied, to be angry, to not help others learn the lessons and the pleasures that come through giving.  Giving in a way that helps others reach a point when they can give a hand so others can have a leg up to a better life.

I reckon' we all can use a friend that, on occasion, gives up a double dip cone so we can reach a better place.  Maybe all of us, no matter our financial situation, might need to remember the message found in the Good Book, the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant, Matthew 18; 23-35.

Peace,

The Coffeeman
