A Real News Feature!
The Alpaca Bean Coffee Company will have a new face soon! No, we are not changing our labels; no, we are not having plastic surgery...but, we may be opening another roasting location in the beautiful downtown of Lavonia, Georgia!
Yes, we are pondering this and it looks really likely that we will convert the back portion of 1192 East Main Street, right there in Lavonia next to a fantastic community gathering area. How do I know this? Well, my Ms. Jude will be opening a new storefront designed for the upfront, upscale, sales of alpaca fiber products there beginning in the late summer or early fall. That is, if we can tear out the things that need tearing and rebuild the things that need rebuilding by then! I must state that the building is fantastic, the location is fantastic, and the owners of the space are pretty darn wonderful, as well (even if I do say so myself)...so, it looks pretty sure that this will be happening soon.
The back room area, where the coffee roasting operation will eventually grow, is currently in need of a good bit of TLC...windows opened up, arched doorway re-introduced, and production area shored up...but hey, don't you think that is the way you really get close to your surroundings? This will not be an overnight happening because we are committed to maintaining our current roasting operation at the farm to service our internet sales, and to provide fresh roasted coffee during the farm tours that we host...that means a new roaster at the East Main location, the preparation costs and roasting setup costs.. But, we just wanted to share our excitement with you, our coffee buds so to speak! :o)
Now, if we start to put "progress" photos on this space, you will have to bear with us...or at least yell, "Stop it already!" Is that a deal???? If you ever have any questions...just drop us a line and we will get right back to you on this!

On A Personal Note......
Well, we are going to do it...yep, we are declaring our new storefront building a tobacco free area...that is to protect our beautiful alpaca products from the occasional cig burns, or tobacco drippings that tend to ruin fine products...don't you know? This is causing a bit of a problem since a good many of our friends and family have the habit you see...but it has to be done.
To make things go the route of most resistance, we have made the decision to also make our farm...all 72 acres...a no tobacco space as well. This decision was made after a number of long discussions with our alpaca friends. Yep, they communicate pretty well with their hummmmms and body movements, you know. They really are getting rather put out having cig butts and tobacco tins left in their fields...not to mention having to shake off an occasional wad of 'baci' from between their toes. Yep, that is what they communicated to me.
But, I have a plan to make it all better, tween me, Ms. Jude, and our help partners...you see, I am gonna' keep a good ol' pot of The Alpaca Bean Coffee brewing all day long...winter, spring, summer and fall! Now, even the most tobacco hooked individual will have to admit that is quite a deal...don't you think?
Once we get the satellite roasting operation in motion, we will be in the position we have talked about for a long, long time...but to give off the right image we will need to be clean cut and tobacco free...ready to serve any demand that comes our way.
Cannot wait to have folks drop by the roaster tasting room for a sip of our fine coffee of the day...or to fire up the roasting operation just when a festival is kicking off right outside our walls...or maybe even setting up a welcoming table, on occasion, to invite anyone and everyone into Judy's Connection (that is not the name of the alpaca store...but we are keeping that a family secret until we open! )! :o)
Now, you see we could get a fine if someone in our employ, or a close family member, let out a spit on the clean sidewalks of our new home away from home...so we are promoting good health all around. There are two things I ask from you on this...first, please come see us in our old and new environments...and second, please say a prayer or two for us as we deal with our new mandates restricting health altering substances! You can now laugh out loud at our predicaments...but do not feel sorry for us cause it is all our fault!!! AND, we are proud to the end! :o)
