As the holiday season rapidly approaches, this becomes the million dollar question: What do I wear to all of my upcoming events? Choosing what to wear depends on the venue, time of day and what the actual invitation says. The invitation will help gauge the formality of the event, however, asking the hostess is the easiest way of knowing the expectations of the attire. Also, a great shopping habit to start is to invest in pieces that you will be able to wear more than once a year and that will mix and match well.
- Friend's Dinner Party:
There is not one right answer which can make things a bit tricky. However, a few go to items would include a V-neck knit or wrap dress (navy), contrasting color cardigan (brown, magenta, gray), flats (leopard print) or small heel, and belting the dress if you need more shape. Accessories would be earrings, a cuff and a clutch. Another option would be black skinny trouser jeans, silk top, blazer, kitten heels or boots with the accessories being the same.
- Office Party:
When choosing an outfit for an office party the important thing to remember is that it is still a business event where you are representing your company. Do not dress in anything that is overly revealing. Take into consideration the formality and mindset of your office and the location of the party. The LBD is always a go to dress. Adding a colored sash (red) and metallic heels with metallic jewelry will give it that extra touch. In addition, a sheath dress or trousers and a blazer would be great options, also.
- Formal Event:
A black tie invitation calls for formal attire: fancy cocktail dress, long floor length dress, or dressy evening separates. Choosing an outfit that flatters your body type, cute jewelry, and shoes to compliment are the main keys. Knowing which length of dress to wear depends on time of day, venue location, and how formal the event is.
Whatever event you have coming up, have fun and be fashionable!
