Rebecca

Hey fashionable friends!  I hope you all had a great summer.  I know I was glad when the school bell was ringing again and we are getting back to a normal schedule in my house!  I have so much to share about the fall - I can't fit it all in.  So stay tuned for more newsletters this fall!

First and foremost - let's cover the top trends for fall!

Denim - Denim is coated, brocade, shiny, printed and jewel-toned.  They have gotten crafty with this perenial staple!  I know that many of you will turn away from this trend - but at least try your favorite style in a dark color other than blue.  They are more versatile than you think and really put a pop in your pants!

Fun Details - Pleats, ruffles, tassels, and bows, OH MY!!  These have been added to jackes, shirts, tees, skirts, dresses and shoes.  Make sure they don't accentuate the negative on your body.  They can be fun - but make sure you pick one trend per item.

Colors - Hunter Green, Burgundy, Royal Blue, Red, Charcoal Gray, and always - Black.  These colors tend to always return in the fall - but the burgundy and all of it's hues are already all over the mall.  This is the color to add this season.  It looks good on everyone and it is a great color to add in leather accessories.

Prints - Chevron, animal print, stripes, and polka dots.  Mix these with your colored jeans and you will be the one to imitate! Keep these prints small if you are already large in the bust or have a large tummy.  You can go a little bigger with these prints if your hips are larger than your top - either way, pick wisely, and don't spend too much $$$ on these trends.  These are the ones that tend to leave as soon as they come!

Emily Elliott's Top 5
1.  So you know Anthropologie is one of my favorite places to shop with clients or on my own.  If you are not on their email blasts you might have missed that in August they introduced a PETITIES collection.  Great news for you tiny gals!

2.  LEATHER, LEATHER and more LEATHER!!  This is the Fall trend I am most excited about.  Dresses, Pants, Tops, Jackets, Black, Navy, Green, Brown it is everywhere and at all price points. Leather/Knit Jacket is from Nordstrom and Leather Pants are Milly available at Saks.

3.  All of you loyal Tom's fans please check out the EXCLUSIVE collection that Neiman Marcus is carrying.  So cute and a more sturdy sole for you movers and shakers.

4.  Rebecca and I have been involved with the locally produced lifestyle show Mirror/Mirror on The Live Well Network.  Rebecca Spera is the darling host and we have teamed with her to bring you some important fashion tips.  Check out www.livewellnetwork.com for more information.

5.  Yves Saint Laurent is one of my most favorite designers.  I was lucky enough to attend Yves Saint Laurent: The Retrospective at The Denver Art Museum.  An amazing collection of over 200 haute couture garments along with films, photography and drawings.  YSL began his career in the 1950's under Dior and is most famous for his tuxedo's, safari jackets and trousers for women.

Emily had a precious baby girl - Avery Ellen in June.  We are smitten with this new little shopper!

Here are some guidelines on moving from summer to fall without burning up!

Put up the following until next summer -

  • white shoes and sandals
  • eyelet
  • seersucker
  • linen
  • white jackets - unless it is denim or leather

Keep wearing...

  • stripes - look great with your colored jeans
  • sandals - keep those toes looking pretty
  • sundresses - as long as they are dark in color

Hold off on...

  • boots - honestly - it is 98 degrees outside
  • corduroy - so cute, but really hot!

"Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important."

- Janet Lane
