From Rebecca

Believe it or not, bathing suit season is fast approaching.  Suits are filling the stores, so you need to shop now for the best selection.  I have a couple of tips when shopping...

1.  Make sure this is the only thing you shop for on this trip.  It can be overwhelming when you are trying to find multiple items on your shopping list.  You will most likely be hitting several stores so pack your stamina too.

2.  Realize that your body is what it is and if you want to enjoy the sun this season, you need to find something that works.  Don't lament over the pounds you haven't lost or the lack of muscle tone.  Have confidence!

 3.  You will have to go up in size.  Don't fret - The swimwear companies hve not changed their sizing like the regular stores have. Get the size that COVERS you!

Here are some stores and websites I like for suits with great return policies.

Eddie Bauer... $146.00.  Miracle suit with great coverage.  The ruching covers the tummy well.

Soma...$96 for the top and $48 for the bottom.  Not only great for sleepwear, check out more options on-line or in their stores.

Athleta...$62 for the top and $46 for the bottom.  this is my FAVORITE place to buy becuase they have several pieces to mix and match with print and solid.  They have great coverups and the prices are great.  Look for thier first store in Houston to open in Town & Country in May.

White Houst Black Market...$92.  Surprise - they have swimwear.  It is really cute and a little old school - think Esther Williams!  In stores and on-line.

Target... top - $30, bottom - $26. I was pleasantly surprised to find the Spanx lower priced line called Assets in Target offers swimwear.  Much more on line to choose from than in store.

Emily Elliott's Top 5

1.  Still trying to find the perfect "button-down"?  You ladies with a full chest will LOVE the Hugo Boss side zip blouse.  Available at Saks for $195 this blouse is machine washable and comes in a few basic colors.

2.  A bit heavy on the stereotypes for Texans and not sure the depth of the story-line but I LOVE the fashion on GCB.  Check it out Sunday nights at 9:00 pm on ABC.  I bet you can find a few characters you can "relate to" or are "related to".

3.  A great find for Spring/Summer is this Stuart Weitzman patent leather wedge.  A reasonable height and easy to dress up and pair with dresses or keep casual with shorts.  Available at Nordstrom in Black and Adobe (nude) and priced at $365.

5.  J. Crew does a great job with swimsuits AND cover-ups!  Head to a store, shop on-line or order through the catalog NOW!

6.  I love all the Eyelet this Spring.  This cute top is from Talbot's available in Flame (coral) or White at $99.

What you can do this month to change your look...

         No More Wire Hangers!

What's the skinny with wire hangers? Who cares about hangers? I do and so should you! Organizing your closet is a huge undertaking. Try taking it one step at a time and consider giving your hangers a huge overhaul.

Why do hangers matter?  First, visually speaking, better hangers look nicer. You "shop" your closet every day.  Wouldn't you rather walk into a closet that looked appealing versus one you loathed? Secondly, poor quality hangers can actually ruin your clothing. Why pay so much money for quality clothes and then destroy them with a poor quality hanger?

Hanger choices include wooden hangers, skinny velvet hangers, plastic hangers that the stores give you, flocked hangers and tubular hangers. The wooden hanger is the best option for those with larger closets.  They are available with pant clips for pants and skirts.  The best deal I can find on these is at IKEA.  Skinny velvet hangers are perfect for layering pieces and limited space closets. They work really well for those pesky tops that keep falling off your regular hangers.  The best deal on these is at Costco.  The easiest hanger to get are the ones from the stores.  Always ask if you can keep the hangers when you are buying new additions to your wardrobe.  The tubular hangers work well and are still a better option than wire.  All of these options will make your closet look more pleasing.

Wire hangers are really only appropriate for transferring your dry cleaning and should never make a permanent home in your closet. These hangers can damage your clothes by creating dents at the shoulders as well as cause rust stains.  Recycle them by returning them to your dry cleaners.

You pay good money for your clothing; treat your investment well.
