Now it's our turn to say Thanks! Survive Riverside Ride
Saturday, December 12 at 1pm at Midway Field House
Riverside Drive is one of Austin's most dangerous streets - at 6 lanes wide, it's an urban highway that divides our neighborhoods, hinders local businesses and takes a catastrophic toll on human life.  Join residents from Southeast Austin, Council Member Sabino "Pio" Renteria and Bike Austin for a ride on Riverside to call for badly-needed protected bike lanes and pedestrian safety improvements on the street. Bring your best extreme sports gear to highlight how dangerous the street is in it's current configuration. RSVP Here! Also, don't forget to Sign the petition.

Unsilent Night Bicycle Ride
Sunday, December 13 at 5:30pm at Texas State Capital
Unsilent Night is an original composition by Phil Kline, written specifically to be heard outdoors in the month of December. It takes the form of a street promenade in which the audience becomes the performer. Each participant gets one of four tracks of music in the form of a cassette, CD, or Mp3. Together all four tracks comprise Unsilent Night. The fact that the participants play different "parts" simultaneously helps create the special sound of the piece. Participants carry boomboxes, or anything that amplifies music, and simultaneously start playing the music. They then walk a carefully chosen route through their city's streets, creating a unique mobile sound sculpture which is different from every listener's perspective. Click here for more information

Bike Austin improves quality of life for all of Austin and Central Texas by growing bicycling as a form of transportation, exercise, and recreation.

Guiding Principles:

  • Bicycling should be safe and accessible.
  • Bicycling positively transforms our community.
  • Bicycling benefits all people, whether they bicycle or not.
  • Bicycling is an integral part of a multi-modal transportation system.
