A lot is happening at Bike Austin! To start, a new staff member, Becky Moriarty, has joined the team part-time as the Community Relations Manager.  She will be managing marketing efforts, as well as helping to coordinate cycling education classes and community events. If you see a new face around the office, be sure to say hi and welcome her to the team.

Hottest Day of the Year Ride
Saturday, August 8 from 2pm to 8pm
Celebrate the heat with the longest event on the Hottest Day of the year. This year's ride will feature free snacks, tasty beverages, 10 icey swimming spots, 3 start locations North, South and East a
nd a bigger-than-ever benefit party to end the day.          

With proper clothing, hydration, and an open mind, we believe going by bike to the park, to the pool, a cafe, or for ice cream (especially for ice cream) is completely do-able, fun, and preferable for bicyclists of all ages and abilities.  Tickets are $5 for members, and $10 for future-members. Moonlight Serenade Social Ride
Each month, Bike Austin's staff and board of directors invite you to join us on an evening social ride around our great city. Join us for a pre-ride discussion on how we can make Austin a safer place to ride and walk. Then go for a short ride, visiting several music venues and wrapping up with beverages and food.

Family Fun Ride
Saturday, September 19 from 8:30am to 12pm at Brushy Creek
Join Bike Austin at Brushy Creek Trail in Cedar Park. This family ride will consist of fun activities for the whole family. Come early for a helmet fitting and bike rodeo!
We will provide snacks to ensure you are off to a great start and be sure to stick around for a light lunch.

Armadillo Hill Country Classic
Saturday, October 24  in Liberty Hill

This year's Armadillo Classic Ride will be one of the best rides around central Texas!


Bike Austin leads the charge to ensure your voice is heard and educates the community at large on bike safety.   

We are the recipient of a grant that will help launch the Bike Austin Education Fund to offer bicycling education in the community to both bicyclist and drivers. We will offer free classes to the underserved population and corporations alike on how to utilize active transportation methods. Per the grant we need a match of $20,000 by September 30 and your registration will help us meet our goal. 


Will you ride? Early Bird member pricing of $40 will be extended until Saturday, August 8th, 11:50 PM CST. Want to ride and not join, no problem! Non-member registration rate is $50.

City Cycling-Classroom
Third Friday of every month from 5pm to 9pm at REI Downtown
Riding in traffic is smooth when you're prepared with the knowledge and skills to avoid potential conflicts.  In the City Cycling class, you will learn where to ride safely on the street, how to be visible and predictable to motorists and where to position yourself at intersections.  Even if you are an experienced cyclist, you will be surprised at how much you did not know about safe cycling. $35.Click here to register. Upcoming classes:

City Cycling-On Road
Third Saturday of every month from 8am to 1 pm at Thinkery Parking Garage
Practice what you learned in City Cycling - Classroom by getting on the bike and having an on-bike session to improve your riding skills. The course will start with parking lot drills that cover bike handling skills and avoidance maneuvers. Then you will put everything you've learned together for practice on the road.  The on-road experiences include quiet residential streets, minor arterials, multi-lane low- and moderate-speed arterials. Finally, you will learn how to change a flat. $35. Ride Leader Training
Bike Austin's ride leader training class is a three-hour presentation that is intended to give a prospective Leader the tools that he or she needs to design, post and lead rides.
