Strategic Planning Summit
|
It is time for a bold new vision for bicycling in Austin and Central Texas. Austin Cycling Association and Bike Austin have formed a unified organization (to be known as Bike
Austin) dedicated to promoting cycling for transportation and recreation in Central Texas. Now we need the help of the entire community to help us build a focused, effective bicycling organization that can improve quality of life for people living in Austin and Central Texas.
Please join us on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 to help craft our strategy for the next three to five years. ACCELERATE: Community Strategy Summit on the Future of Austin Bicycling is a 1.5-day event that is key to the success of our organization.
- Ever thought you might feel safer riding on the road if you had a bike lane?
- Wish there was a bike rack outside of your favorite restaurant?
- Want to feel like you are part of a strong bicycling community that can make a difference in the quality of life here?
Then join biking advocates, Bike Austin and Austin Cycling Association members, shop owners, community leaders, bicycle club representatives, social riders, elected officials, educators, transportation officials, and many more as we capitalize on our community's growing interest in bicycling: a mode of transportation that is sustainable, healthy, social, and enjoyable - so that we can support it, advocate for it, and grow it.
To reserve your place at this important conversation around improving bicycling in Austin, please RSVP by April 28 at http://bikeaustin.eventbrite.com.

Bike To Work Day
|
Bike To Work Day is Friday May 16. This will be the first event for the newly formed alliance between Austin Cycling Association and Bike Austin and we intend to make Bike To Work Day 2014 the best yet. Last year's Bike To Work was very successful, enjoying a 45% increase in participation over the previous year. Some quick things to know about Bike To Work Day 2014:
- The popular messenger bag will again be free to those who sign the Bike To Work forms provided at all the Fueling Stations (while supplies last).
- There are still a few sponsorships available on the Bike To Work bag. If you are interested in promoting your company in this way, please let us know.
- The morning and afternoon Fueling Stations are coming together and planning their special offerings.
- Our Ride Leaders are working to put together this year's group rides to escort commuters.
- We are also planning a few group rides heading out of downtown to a few of the more distant afternoon Fueling Stations.
- The community is free to list all Bike Month events on the BikeToWorkAustin.org website.
If you know of an event that needs to be listed, or are interested in becoming a sponsor, please send word to [email protected]. As Bike To Work approaches, the website will list a brief description of each of the Fueling Stations along with a map. Station managers can receive helpful tips for creating a worthwhile station on the website. Do come ride to work on Friday May 16!
