March 2013

"No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another."

Got Fines?
We are accepting Food for Fines thru March 30th
   canned food
Bring in  donations for the Coxsackie Food Pantry and for every item donated we will take $5 off your fines. Unfortunately this does not apply to lost or damaged materials. But if you find and return a billed DVD or book, your bill will be reduced to a fine. Then you can pay it off with food!
In addition to canned and boxed food, the Coxsackie Pantry is also in need of paper products (toilet paper, paper towels etc.) and personal care items (toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.).
This is a chance to help someone else and clear up your fines at the same time.!

What is the Mid Hudson Library System?

The Mid-Hudson Library System (MHLS) is an organization dedicated to making local libraries better while saving local tax dollars.

It is estimated that without the System the our taxpayers would have to pay an additional 33% to continue the level of library service we currently offer.

Since 1959 MHLS has worked with its member libraries to insure:

  •  the public's right to free access
  • economical resource sharing and
  • professional library services

  How do they do this?

  • Workshops and professional consultations for the staff and trustees of member libraries
  • Support for kids, tween and teen programming at our library
  • Online Library Catalog & Request a Title
  • Out of System Interlibrary loan
  • HOMEACCESS:a collection of online databases that you, the patron can access from any Internet connected computer.
  • Delivery Service for 66 member libraries [MHLS Delivery = one-seventh the cost of mailing items between libraries.]
  • Member libraries save their communities over $12 million annually by sharing items.

The System is 100% funded through New York State. If you have benefitted from any of the above services please take the time to

let  your legislators know.
