Welcome to our April 2016 Edition of the Sanibel/Captiva E-Newsletter

Spring is abloom on the islands. The Easter Bunny is long gone but the spring vacations are continuing on. Families are enjoying the island's sunny spring days with cool sea breezes. We have begun to say good-bye to the snowbirds and getting ready to welcome our summer guests.

Industry News continues to be positive which is why the market is so active so don't delay whether buying or selling as inventory remains low.

First Impressions - R.S. Walsh Landscaping

It's time to sell your home and move on to your next adventure. You need to get your home ready and staged to make a good first impression. The first thing buyers will see is the front of the home and this first look needs to invoke an inviting and welcoming feeling.

Just like the inside of the house, you want to clean up the shrubs with some judicious trimming, trim old fronds from palms, take out any plants in poor shape, edge up plant bed areas. Dress up landscape with a new layer of mulch and top dress any gravel or shell pathways. A cleaned up appearance will make the landscape look well cared for.

Adding in some flowering annuals in the plant bed areas will not only brighten the space, but possibly add more value to your home. Marketing studies showed that for every $250 spent in adding seasonal flowering color or plants increased a home's value by $1,000.

To go an extra step, add some pottery planters at the front door and maybe on the pool deck with tropical foliage and seasonal flowers to put the final touches on a beautiful presentation. Think of your landscape as the wrapping and bow on the gift - your home, as a you pass it along to its new owners.

Captiva Honors Retiring Librarian Ann Bradley - Santiva Chronicle
If Captiva Island seemed oddly deserted Thursday evening, March 31, during the height of the tourist season, it may have been because most island residents were at the Captiva Civic Center to honor Ann Bradley, who has retired after 30 years with the Lee County Library System and a dozen years as head librarian at the Captiva Memorial Library.
