Examining the link between enhancing indoor air quality and reducing childhood asthma symptoms
In recognition of ecobeco's continuing commitment to health and energy efficiency, the National Center for Healthy Housing has selected ecobeco as the general contractor for the Housing and Energy Attributes Linked To Health through Retrofits (HEALTH-R) Study. In this study, ecobeco will implement the Breathe Easy Home Indoor Air Quality System in the homes of 24 children with asthma. NCHH will then monitor the children against a control group to determine the health impacts of the retrofits. ecobeco will perform energy audits and coordinate the installation of insulation, air sealing, HVAC upgrades, duct sealing, and more. To learn more about this study, visit www.HealthyHomeStudy.com
If you know anyone with asthmatic children, please forward them this website, www.HealthyHomeStudy.com so they can read about the study and apply. The application process is open now until May 31, 2016.

Best practices for improving indoor air
I have exciting news. As of March 1, 2016, Breathe Easy Home has been spun out from our parent company Ecobeco LLC into a new, non-profit organization. You may have noticed that the web address has changed from breatheeasyhome.com to breatheeasyhome.org!
The new Breathe Easy Home is a non-profit on a mission to promote the development of building methods that improve air quality and reduce asthma, allergies, and respiratory illnesses. In 2015, we created the Breathe Easy Home Indoor Air Quality System to provide guidance to consumers seeking to make home improvement purchases to enhance health outcomes. Breathe Easy Home's guidelines integrate the best practices from the building performance and heating, ventilation and air conditioning industries. Coming soon in 2016, Breathe Easy Home's contractor accreditation program will provide home owners with the confidence that their home improvements are performed in accordance with Breathe Easy Home's guidelines by firms with appropriate knowledge and experience. For example, ecobeco's staff training and experience will allow ecobeco to become an accredited contractor when the program launches.
Also, coming soon in 2016, Breathe Easy Home Certifications will provide home owners with the ability to monetize their investment in home improvements when they sell their home in the future. This means that ecobeco will be able to certify your home, and we'll provide you with a window stick and certificate that you can list with your home on the Multiple Listing Service.
Sincerely, Brian Toll President, Ecobeco LLC Board Member, Breathe Easy Home
