The Spirulina Project Launches in Eastern, Kenya

In Dec 2012, Abha Light Foundation (ALF) launched its Spirulina Project with a training programme and a spirulina distribution to needy children in Kambimawe, Makueni District, Kenya.

We've been growing Spirulina for almost a year under the direction of ALF's partner, AMURTEL supervisor Didi Ananda Prama and Julius Wambua.

Ten ALF-affiliated people attended the training where they learned how to produce spirulina.

After the training, needy families were brought into a distribution programme where they will be given a porridge flour and regular supply spirulina for their children. Studies have shown Spirulina to be effective in boosting the nutritional standards of malnourished children.

Spirulina is a blue green algae grown in spicially designed tanks. Spirulina is high in protein and many micronutrients. It's an ideal food supplement as it is economical to grow and is a highly concentrated food source.

The intention of the Spirulina project is to make it available (for sale) to NGOs for distribution as an affordable food supplement for their respective emergency relief or other distribution projects. Contact Abha Light if your NGO is interested in buying affordable Spirulina

Abha Light extends its work to D.R. Congo

Since 2010, Abha Light affiliated homeopaths have been visiting the eastern border areas of Democratic Republic of Congo. Since March 2012, homeopath Micheal Magambo has been stationed in Bukavu, Sud Kivu to establish affordable homeopathy and natural medicine.

Years of political violence a

nd war have depleted the resources of this part of Congo. Medical resources are not easily available. So there is a great need for affordable, accessible health care services. ALF hopes to be part of that solutio n.

EPILEPSY PROJECT
One of the projects started by Michael and Didi Ruchira was the Epilepsy project where over 100 patients, mostly children, have been attended to. Most of the those treated have shown positive results, some of them have been fully cured.

Epilepsy is a serious common problem in Africa, as its a result of poorly-treated high fevers such as meningitis or malaria. Generally, children under the age of 5 who suffer malaria or meningitis will not only have epilepsy but will suffer mental retardation as a result.

Homeopathy is proving effective in mitigating or curing epilepsy and has been helpful in helping mental retardation to some extent.

Epilepsy Project in Kenya

After seeing the positive results in Congo with 100 epilepsy patients, Didi Ananda Ruchira in cooperation the with Corboni Sisters' own Korogocho Project, has started treating 25 epilepsy patients, mostly children.

There have been positive results even though this work has only just started.
Other news from around the ALF family of practitioners

ructors have been created. ALF is happy to be able to bring more alternative services to Kenya.

Abha Light also conducted 2 Professional Development Seminars for homeopaths.
One was in April with Katie Cross, introducing and teaching the Scholten method with minerals and the periodic chart.

The other training was in December, with Vivien Heine, teaching Grant's Homeopathic Facial Analyis.

Big Brother Munga: Abha Light practitioners help others to grow
Munga Mush in Mombasa has been steadily working on the coast and improving his work. He's doing well. Additionally, he's assisting some of the graduates from other homeopathic training projects in Kenya to get their own clinics going. We are happy that Abha Light's former trainees' capacity has grown and are capable to help others build their careers in homeopathy and natural medicine

John & Esther just had their baby, but their clinic work still progresses. John has his mobile in the very low-income area at Matuu.

Phylis, Janet, Joseph, Patrick, Wambui are some of the regularly employed practitioners either in private practice or with our affiliated clinics.

Steve and his team Manyanga clinic team - Ruth, Sila, Chris and Peter are doing well as are Julius, Dorcas, Patrick and Esther from the Kambimawe clinic.

TRAINING
The traiing programme has been a bit low key this year but there's 4 trainees nearly ready to graduate and 2 nurses are presently studying.

Didi Ruchira has started to guest-lecture at Kenyatta University for INTRODUCTION TO HOMEOPATHY to the medical students. She is now working on a short certificate and a long diploma programme for the university.

The Abha Light Pharmacy and Natural Therapy shop in Nairobi is now 1 year old. An increasing number of people are getting to know it as a reliable source for their homeopathic medicine  .

Rachael Masaku, practitioner, and her husband Rawi have been managing the shop since it started.

The pharmacy stocks over 650 remedies in various potencies plus a line of homeopathic complex formulas, expecially the popular FLU-EX, MALARIX and CANCER BUSH remedies.

2013: Plans to build a new clinic in Western Province Kenya

WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Daniel Mulama and his brother Moses Kitui graduated from the Abha Light College in 2010 and have been steadily improving their livelihoods as homeopathic and natural medicine practitioners in Western Province, Kenya.

They have acquired a land and donated it to Abha Light for the clinic. The need for health care services in this low-income community is great. An Abha Light clinic can significantly contribute towards the betterment of this community.

We have a number of affiliated practitioners who are graduates of the Abha Light College of Natural Medicine. Most of them are practiicing from their own establishments or home-offices. We have two successful clinics in Eastern Province affiliated with ALF. For the Kambimawe clinic, run by Dorcas Kisunga and Julius Wambua and established in 2004, ALF built the 8-room clinic with ecological, economical pressed-soil bricks.

We now wish to raise funds to build a new clinic in Ndivisi, Western Province.

We will accept donations thru our bank account, mpesa or PAYPAL. Contact us for further information.

Phycocyanin and allophycocyanin make great contribution to human immune system improvement by increasing white blood cells in human body.

Restrain malignant tumors
Cancer stems from damaged cells by increasing free radicals in the body. Beta carotene is the active substance capable to effectively restrain free radicals, and it is the main resource for Vitamin A as well. Spirulina beta carotene is ten times more concentrated than carrots. It is widely recognized in the medical science world that spirulina polysaccharide and phycocyanin have postive effects on cancer and tumor treatment. Clinical studies show spirulina has a 54% of restraint rate upon ascitic type of hepatitis cancer cells. Spirulina also has notable effect in recovering organ damages caused by chemical and radiation treatment.
