Reminder: Extended Holiday Closing
The Rockaway Township Public Library will be closed for Christmas and New Years from December 24, 2014 to January 1, 2015. We will reopen on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 9 am.

During this time the drop boxes will be closed and patrons will not incur fines for overdue materials. We will try and work with surrounding libraries to fulfill hold requests during the days we are closed; be on the look out for additional information.

This extended closing is a mix of both holidays and the final set of staff furlough days for 2014, as agreed to earlier this year in reaction to the library's reduced 2014 budget.  In order to balance this year's budget library, staff agreed to take a total of 10 furlough days over the course of the year without pay, including some days between Christmas and New Years. We apologize for the inconvenience and wish everyone a prosperous New Year.

For more information please call Scott Davan, the director of the Rockaway Township Free Public Library at 973-627-2344 or view the full statement here.
New Website Almost Ready To Launch
Our Head of Reference & Information Technology, Pierre Rosen, has informed us that our new library website is almost ready to roll out to the public.

We expect our new website to go live sometime in January. It is based on the latest version of WordPress using a specially tuned, branded and optimized Graphene theme. In addition to a stunning visual upgrade, the new website has revamped navigation and an integrated calendar for a pleasant online experience.
MAIN is Moving to the 3M Cloud Library
It is with great sadness that we report that MAIN will be leaving digitallibrarynj. This is due to a huge price increase and prohibitive licensing that doesn't allow us to exercise proper ownership and control of e-books.
We will begin transitioning to the 3M Cloud Library, effective January 1, 2015. Our subscription to Overdrive will expire at the end of February.

Our new 3M Cloud Library currently works with iPad , iPhone, iPod Touch, Nook devices, Kobo, and Android tablets and phones.

E-ink Kindles will not be compatible with the 3M Cloud Library. Other e-ink e-readers like the Nook and Kobo will be supported, but may require syncing using a USB cord through a PC or a Mac. The Kindle Fire will require sideloading of the 3M Cloud Library app.
