Dear Friends, March 2015
March is a big month for Keats people. Educators around the country will be submitting Mini-Grant proposals up until the extended deadline of March 31. San Francisco student bookmakers will be celebrated at the EJK Bookmaking ceremony, on March 15. And then there is Ezra's 99th birthday, on March 11, which reminds us why we do any of it: to ignite the spirit of creativity and joy of reading in children's lives.
Speaking of the EJK Bookmaking Competition, "award-winning" is now an apt descriptor, thanks to the Contemporary Jewish Museum, which was recently honored by state of California for adopting the program. We are thrilled to see the worthy CJM be awarded for excellence, and one of our core programs receive this level of recognition.

Our featured book for March, A Letter to Amy, makes us think of our favorite kind of mail-letters to Ezra from young readers. This correspondence is most often a class assignment, and we love to answer it, just as Ezra did. These days, receiving a letter is a rare prize indeed.
Sincerely,
Executive Director Ezra Jack Keats Foundation
