Dear Friends,                           September 2014

September begins a season of change. For students, it's entering a new grade, maybe even a new school; for many educators, it's teaching to the new Common Core State Standards.

To us, that's good news. It turns out that the EJK Mini-Grant program and Bookmaking Competition, which have inspired teachers and encouraged students for nearly 30 years, are tailor-made to advance the Common Core. In coming newsletters we'll discuss how our programs - as well as the lesson plans and Keats books featured on our site - can be used to meet the new standards.

Meanwhile, as we all ease back into a higher gear, let's expect to be challenged and excited about the opportunities another school year brings.
