Dear Friends,

The school year is in full swing. New faces have become familiar, and first-day jitters are history. Now it's time for lessons that teach social skills as well as academic ones.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, so we are featuring one of Ezra's most popular books, Goggles!, the story of Peter and Archie outwitting the neighborhood gang of bullies without striking a single blow.

There are as many ways to confront bullying as there are ways to bully. If we teach boys and girls a broad spectrum of defensive skills, they'll have the tools to use creatively when needed. It is also important to extend help and firm guidance to a child who bullies. These are among the most difficult lessons of growing up, and they merit more than a month to address.

At left are links to our website that offer ways to guide children toward creative solutions to interpersonal problems. So let's roll up our sleeves and get down to business. And don't forget to check out the rest of our site for resources on other Keats titles!

Sincerely,

Our new game is Off the Wall

Help Peter and Archie shoot balls and make them disappear. You'll score big points, but watch out - if you let the balls reach the ground, it's game over!
