Dear Friends,
Minigrants have been sent out, the books that won the Bookmaking Competition have been returned to their makers, and once more we are bowled over by the dedication and spirit of the educators who go all out to help their students thrive. That dedication goes beyond the classroom and library.
This has been a tough year for many schools, with storms growing fiercer and destruction more widespread. Again and again, we've seen administrators, teachers and students make a formidable team to recover and rebuild in the face of catastrophe.
We're about to say goodbye to an important member of our team, Pat Bernstein, who is retiring this month. She has worked for the Foundation for a dozen years, and we already miss her. For us, summer means planning, and all those projects we couldn't make time for during the school year. It always seems as though we'll be less busy during this season, and we never are. That's what we'll be doing. What about you?
This newsletter will be our last until the fall. Have a wonderful summer, and we'll see you in September!
Sincerely,
Associate Director
Ezra Jack Keats Foundation
