Dear Friends,

We've made it through another winter! Spring is just around the corner, and so is Ezra's birthday. On March 11, teachers and librarians across the country mark the date by celebrating not just Keats, but the joy of reading. That combination reflects how we feel about our work here at the Keats Foundation.
We enjoy shining the spotlight on each of Ezra's books so teachers and parents can discover, or rediscover, his engaging stories with young readers. But we also think it's important to alert you to new books that, in the spirit of Keats, reflect our diverse and complex world. So we are excited to announce the winners of the 2013 Ezra Jack Keats New Writer and New Illustrator Awards. Not only do these awards give encouragement to outstanding artists early in their careers, they also give us a peek at the future stars of children's illustrated literature.
We'll have more on the winners in the weeks to come. Spread the word about the EJK Book Awards - and be sure to enjoy the spring!

Sincerely,
